I take my time to go home,
but today I was excited to get home to watch my favorite show,
but on my way home a man started following me.
I stay very far from my apartment so I catch the train.
"Next stop 56th Street" the man on the speaker said before the train came to a stop.
I got off the train and jogged to my house before finally getting to my building.
I stayed on the third floor at the time.
I didn't want to tire myself out so I got on the elevator hoping he didn't know where I stayed.
I finally go to my room door; it was all the way at the end of the hall.
There was no peephole that is usually on the door.
So when I got into the house, I didn't know if the man was following me.
"Bang Bang", someone was knocking on the door, and I didn't know if it was the man that was following me.
If this man somehow got a way into my apartment, I didn't know what I was going to do.
I went into the bathroom and closed the door with the lights off.
"Bang Bang", there was another knock at the door, but this time it was aggressive.
"OPEN THE DOOR, I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE," the man yelled.
There was silence for about ten seconds before I heard the door open.
I dialed 911, but it was too late, the man was already in my house.
I made sure the bathroom door was locked before going into the bathtub.
"Is everything alright?" I forgot the police were on the phone.
"I need help," I whispered.
I heard footsteps getting closer to the door.
"I'm in the Glendale Apartments on the third-floor apartment 315, please help me."
"I know you're here," the man said.
I heard the door handle move.
I tried my best to hide in the tub so that he couldn't see me.
"OPEN THIS DOOR, JESSICA," the man screamed at me.
How does he know my name?
There was nothing but silence for thirty minutes,
but I didn't want to risk exiting the bathroom, and the man was waiting for me.
I sat there and cried, hoping I could live another day.
"This is the police, open up."
Footsteps followed.
"Clear."
I exited the bathroom to find the man that was following me dead on the ground.
