The Machine Races
Scientists program almost sentient beings to be like humans.
Code is everywhere. The corporation created races of machines. With the intent to show that machines can coexist, and therefore, present to the world how humans could do the same, they felt optimistic.
Then, they remembered the algorithms that had been applied to the machines. They fought and bickered and exchanged racist epithets against each other.
The scientists in the corporation looked to shut down the machines before they became forceful.
“Dr. Kosson. We must shut them down before we’re shut down indefinitely.”
The Dr. sent a message over the WiFi to disable all of the machines. They kept fighting.

The Lure
I heaved the last trunk over the lip of the top step, staggering back with it before dropping it to the ground. I sank onto a loose cushion nearby, gasping for breath as I surveyed the damage: crates and trunks scattered across the suite, loose items draped over every bit of furniture, which was just about all askew.
