The Legendary Werewolf Warriors
Prologue & Chapter 1

Prologue
Late one Halloween night, in the rural area of Madison, Wisconsin, sixteen-year-old Zane was relaxing at his house. Zane was a 6’5 white male that had been very muscular ever since he hit puberty. He was average good-looking with blackish-brown hair and red eyes. Zane and his family lived out in the country parts of Madison, where the area was surrounded by open fields and woods. Their house was small with two floors to fit him, his parents, and his two siblings (Morgan and Zack). Zane was home alone handing out candy to the trick-or-treaters while the rest of his family was out. He had just given out his last piece of candy and decided to turn off the porch lights and settle in by watching the Monday night football game. At least until his girlfriend, Hannah arrived to hang out with him. Halfway through the game, however, the doorbell rang.
“Who’s could that be? Probably just some more trick-or-treaters wanting some candy.”
He ignored it at first, but the doorbell kept ringing.
“Come on! Okay, I’m coming!”
Sufficiently irritated, Zane got up and answered the door.
“Yes…?”
Zane instantly froze with fear. His eyes widen, and his body started to tremble as he suddenly began to float above the floor. His life flashed before his eyes and he thought back to the moments his life changed forever.
Chapter 1
Wednesday morning, Zane had just finished getting ready for school. He dashed down downstairs and hurried outside to catch the bus. He hopped on and held the door open for his younger brother Zack, who hurried out the door and jumped onto the bus. As Zane walked to his seat, everyone began high-fiving him and saying, “What’s up?” He walked to the back of the bus to sit beside his girlfriend. Hannah was a short and skinny redhead who grew into her body very well. She was gorgeous on sight, but not only did she have looks, but she also had the brains to match.
“Hey bae,” said Zane sitting down and kissing Hannah on the cheek.
“Hey sweetie, how’d you sleep last night? I slept great because I had a dream about you.”
“Aww really? Well, I didn’t sleep that well because I had a bad dream.”
“Aww, poor baby. You wanna talk about it?”
Being strong but kind-hearted, Zane didn’t want Hannah to worry about him, so he told her what happened in his dream.
“Last night in my dream, I was battling vampires as this wolf-like creature, but they weren’t just any normal vampires; they were my family.”
“Wow Zane, that’s the strangest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“Yeah, but I’m glad it was just a dream even though it seemed so real. But there’s nothing to worry about.”
“If you say so. Well, how was practice yesterday?”
“Practice was great! Hold on really quick.”
Zane told Zack bye as he was getting off the bus with all the other middle schoolers.
“Anyways, they finally decided to move me up to first steam linebacker because I’m almost as fast as Desmond, who you know is incredibly fast, and can hit harder than all the other players on defense.”
“That’s a great baby! My big strong man out there playing defense with the other starters on Friday night accompanied by me cheering from the sidelines.” Hannah cuddled up closer to him, then asked, “Promise to be careful, right?”
“Yes…I promise to be careful,” said Zane kissing her on the forehead.
“Good, I don’t want my baby getting hurt, and I have to beat someone up.”
“Hahaha…”
The bus pulled up at the high school and let everyone off. Zane helped Hannah up as they held hands walking off the bus. They walked past the students roaming outside and inside their huge two-story school building. They walked around the school as they always did every morning until school started. While they were talking, and flirting with each other, the bell rung, so they walked upstairs to their first-period English II class.
“Good morning Mrs. Martin, what are we learning today?” Zane asked as him and Hannah stopped at the door.
“Shakespeare!”
“Dang it, Mrs. Martin. Shakespeare is a great writer, but he’s just so hard to understand.”
“I know but you’ll understand what he’s trying to say someday.”
“Doubt it, but anything can happen.”
They walked inside and sat down beside each other.
“What’s up Zane,” said Zane’s best friend Desmond.
Desmond and Zane have been best friends since they first met when they played little league football together. Desmond is a black male that is about the same height as Zane, but not as big and muscular. He is very skinny, with average muscular arms and very strong legs. He usually rocks a temple fade with sponge twists hairstyles.
“Nothing much. By the way great job out there yesterday. You were balling.”
“I know right! Future star receiver for the NFL.”
“Now, I wouldn’t say all that, but you are almost as good as I am.”
“Please, I’ve been first steam far longer than you, so just because you got moved up doesn’t mean that you’re suddenly better than me.”
“We’ll see Friday night.”
“We sure will.”
“Alright Desmond and Zane, it’s time for class to start. Save that energy for the field and listen to the announcements.”
After the announcements, Mrs. Martin told everyone to open their books and turn to The Tragedy of Julius Caesar Act Two. She asked Zane to read for Brutus. He looked at the book and somehow understood every word on the page.
“What, Lucius, ho! I cannot by the progress of the stars give guess how near today. Lucius, I say! I would it were my fault to sleep so soundly. When, Lucius, when? Awake, I say! What, Lucius!”
“Good, now what is it saying?”
“Brutus is calling his servant Lucius because he can’t sleep. As you read on, it’s because he wants to kill Caesar. He doesn’t have a reason to attack him, only concern for the general welfare.”
Everyone looked at him with surprise.
“Good job Zane. I told you that you would understand what Shakespeare was saying someday. Continue.”
Zane read on through the Act for the rest of the class period explaining every verse. When the bell rang, they had gotten through Act Three. Everyone grabbed their stuff and rushed out of class.
“How did you understand everything that dude was saying,” asked Hannah as they walked to her next class?
“I really don’t know; it just came to me.”
“That’s weird, but kinda cool at the same time.”
“Yeah, well maybe I’ve discovered a hidden intelligence.”
“Nah…,” answered the both of them as they laughed all the way to Hannah’s history class. Zane dropped Hannah off and hurried to his math class. When he got there, some new girl was in his desk.
“Umm…excuse me? Who are you?”
“Hi, my name is Mykayla.”
“Well nice to meet you Mykayla and welcome to our school. Not to sound rude or anything, but you’re sitting in my desk, perhaps you’d like the one behind me.”
“Sure, no problem.”
She got up out of Zane’s seat and moved to the desk behind him.
“I’m Zane by the way. I was wondering if I could see your schedule to see what classes you have?”
“Umm…sure,” Mykayla said as she reached into her book bag and pulled out her schedule handing it to Zane. As he looked over it, he saw that Mykayla had all the same classes as him except English.
“Cool, you have all the same classes as me. I can show you around.”
“Really?! Thanks, this school is big, and I don’t wanna get lost.”
“Well, you won’t with me showing you around.”
As they finished talking, Desmond walked in right before class was about to begin.
“Just in time Desmond.”
“I know right. Who’s this?”
“This is Mykayla. Mykayla this Desmond; he’s on the football team with me.”
“Nice to meet you, Desmond.”
“Nice to meet you too, Beautiful.”
After class, Desmond, Zane, and Mykayla walked together to Hannah’s class talking about where Mykayla came from. She told them that she was from Cheyenne, Wyoming and moved here with her father. She didn’t know why but hoped to find out soon. As they finished talking, Hannah met up with them.
“Hey y’all, who is this? Desmond’s new girlfriend?”
“He wishes. Nah, this is Mykayla. She’s new here, and we’re showing her around since she has the same classes as us.”
“That’s sweet. Nice to meet you, my name is Hannah.”
“Nice to meet you too. So, I’m guessing you’re Zane’s girlfriend?”
“Yep, and very proud to be.”
“Aww…that’s sweet. I never had a boyfriend before. I didn’t know many boys back in Cheyenne. I mostly hung around my family and girls the whole time I was there.”
“Well, you’ll like some of the boys here. Maybe one in our proximity,” Hannah said winking at Desmond.
“Maybe you’re right.”
They arrived at gym class and went inside their locker rooms on opposite sides of each other. After they finished changing to their uniforms, they went to the gym to play basketball. They picked teams, with Desmond and Zane on the same team.
“Well this will be easy,” said Desmond and Zane as they stretched.
“Don’t be so sure you guys. I was captain of the varsity basketball team back in my hometown.”
“Alright then, let’s ball.”
Mykayla was balling on Desmond and Zane’s team. She’d steal the ball, shoot incredible shots, pass to her teammates for an assist and even dunk on them. Desmond was impressed with Mykayla’s skills, so he decided to turn it up a bit. He gave Zane a look, and they took off. They played along with Mykayla stealing the ball, faking each other out, blocking shots and dunking on each other. Finally, the coach blew the whistle letting everyone know that it was time to take a shower and get dressed.
“Man Mykayla, you have some skills on you. How are you able to jump as high as Zane and me?”
“Y’all can jump higher than I can which is very peculiar.”
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing, so what’s next?”
“Showers, change and then lunch.”
“Good because I need a shower.”
“Yeah, you and me both after that performance. By the way, do you smell wet dog or is it just me?”
“Umm…excuse me,” said Mykayla as she ran into the girls’ locker room and jumped into the showers.
“Why did you ask that,” asked Hannah?! “You hurt her feelings!”
“I wasn’t saying that she smelled like wet dog but I'll apologize to her when we go to lunch.”
Everyone went to their separate locker rooms and showered up before changing and going to lunch. Desmond and Zane waited outside for Hannah and Mykayla. After he apologized, they went upstairs to the lunch room. When they got their food, they went to their table and talked as they ate.
“So, how long have y’all known each other?”
“Desmond and I met in pre-school and were on the same team in little league football. I met Desmond’s sister Kiesha soon after that who also became Hannah’s best friend in first grade. We all been friends ever since until Hannah and I got together in the 6th grade.”
“So, where is this Kiesha?”
“She’s out sick with the flu. She may be back tomorrow. Trust me, you’ll like her. She’s cool and beautiful like you.”
“So, you think I’m beautiful?”
“Very.”
“Desmond flirting!”
“Shut up Zane! Come on, it’s time for drama with Mr. Montgomery.”
Everyone threw away their food and walked down the hall to the drama room. At the end of the day, they all walked down to the field for the guys’ football practice.
“Well Mykayla, how was your first day of school?”
“It was good, I really…Oh no!”
“What’s wrong?”
“I…I…I gotta go!”
Mykayla took off running towards the woods like she was chasing something.
“What the heck? Hannah stays here. We’re going to check on her.”
Worried about Mykayla, Zane and Desmond took off running after her. They ran into the woods but couldn’t find her. Then, out of nowhere, they saw her standing in the middle of the woods looking for something in the trees. They ran over to her, but when they got closer to her, she turned and looked them with anger in her eyes.
“Get away from me,” she said as her eyes turned bright yellow. She started to get increasingly angry at something.
“Is she talking to us?”
“No, she’s talking to us,” said a female voice. Two small kids, a boy, and a girl, that looked like pre teens dropped from the trees behind Zane and Desmond. They were dressed in all black clothes; their skin was very pale and their lips and eyes were bright red like a rose.
“Stay away from them before I rip you apart,” Mykayla said jumping in front of Zane and Desmond.
“Mykayla, who are they, and what do they want with you,” asked Zane?
“It has nothing to do with you humans. Now leave before y’all get hurt.”
“You hurt us? Don’t make me laugh,” said Desmond.
“Alright, you asked for it.”
Like lightning, they appeared behind them holding their arms tightly behind their backs.
“What the...?! How did y’all do that?!”
“Let us go,” said Zane trying to break from of the guy’s grip. They both tried to free themselves, but they were too strong.
“Let them go,” yelled Mykayla getting angrier by the second!
“Why do you care Mykayla? They won’t like you after they know what you really are.”
“I said, let them go NOW!!!” Mykayla transformed into this wolf-like creature that stood on her hind legs and wore a Roman battle suit that was fit for war and a sword on her side. She charged at them. They pushed Zane and Desmond towards her and separated in different directions. They stopped and charged at Mykayla. She dodged the guy and kicked them to the girl to the ground. She jumped on top of her and bit her arm as she pinned her to the ground.
“Why did y’all follow me, Angel?”
“We wanted to see the three Legendary Werewolf Warriors and see if they were real as the legend says. Is that so wrong?”
Angel’s brother, Orpheus, crashed into Mykayla knocking her off Angel and into a tree. Mykayla got up and shook like a dog drying itself off.
“How did y’all know that we came for them?”
“We over heard from a little birdy. So, who are they?”
“I don’t know, and even if I did, I wouldn’t tell y’all.”
“Don’t worry we’ll find out, and when we do, it’s over for them.”
“Angel, we have to go before our time limit in the sun is over. We only have a few more minutes before we turn to ash,” said Orpheus as he could feel his skin start to melt.
“Damn it! Okay, well we’ll be seeing you later, Mykayla,” said Angel winking at Mykayla before she took off running.
They dashed away before they turned to ash. Mykayla calmed down and turned back to normal. Her clothes appeared over her battle suit as her eyes turned back their normal color and shape.
“Are you guys okay?”
“Yeah, I think we’re fine,” said Zane holding his head.
“You…you…You’re a werewolf?!” Desmond yelled pointing at Mykayla.
“Yes, I’m a werewolf. I tried to hide it because I thought y’all wouldn’t believe me or wouldn’t like me if y’all knew my secret. I’m sorry for not telling y’all sooner and will understand if y’all don’t want to talk to me anymore.”
“Relax, Mykayla! We’re just surprised that werewolves actually exist,” said Zane getting up from the ground followed by Desmond.
“So, does that mean that vampires exist too, and all the other mythical creatures?”
“That’s right. They all do exist. I’ll explain on the way back, but first let me make sure they didn’t bite either of you before we start heading back.”
Mykayla walked slowly around them to see if they got bite during the battle.
“All clear.”
“Now explain,” said Zane and Desmond as they walked out of the woods back towards the field.
