The Last Goodbye

A Heartbreaking Micro fiction Story

By Nitin GabhePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

He stumbled out of the hospital, numb and disoriented. The world around him seemed to be moving in slow motion. How could she be gone? They had made plans for the future, talked about growing old together. He leaned against a nearby wall and let out a deep, guttural cry. It felt like the weight of the world was on his shoulders.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. He tried to move on, but the memory of her haunted him. Everywhere he looked, he saw her smiling face. He took long walks, hoping to clear his mind, but the memories only grew stronger.

One day, as he was walking through the park, he came across a bench. It was the same bench where they had sat together, laughing and talking about their dreams. He sat down and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. For the first time since she had passed away, he felt a sense of peace. He knew that he would never forget her, but he also knew that it was time to say goodbye.

With a heavy heart, he got up from the bench and walked away. As he turned to look back one last time, he whispered, "Goodbye, my love."
