The Last Goodbye...

A Story of Love and Loss"

By Ahmed AburokkoPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

Once upon a time, there was a couple deeply in love. Escanor and Raza had been together for over 20 years, and their love for each other had only grown stronger with each passing day. They had been through thick and thin together, weathering storms and basking in the sunshine.

Escanor was a tall, broad-shouldered man with a beard and a warm smile. He had always been protective of Raza, even before they officially became a couple. Raza was a gentle, kind-hearted woman with a twinkle in her eye and a contagious laugh. She made Escanor feel at ease, no matter what was going on in his life.

But then, one day, Raza fell ill. It started with a persistent cough and a slight fever, but soon her condition worsened. The doctors ran tests and diagnosed her with a rare form of cancer. It was a long and painful battle, but she fought bravely, with Escanor by her side every step of the way.

They held onto hope that she would recover, but as the days turned into weeks, and the weeks turned into months, it became clear that Raza's condition was only getting worse. Escanor spent every waking moment at her side, holding her hand, telling her stories, and trying to keep her spirits up.

But he could see the light slowly fading from Raza's eyes and knew the end was near. He tried to hide his despair, but he couldn't help feeling as if a part of him was slipping away with her.

On the day of their last goodbye, Escanor held Raza's hand tightly as she took her final breath. Tears streamed down his face as he whispered "I love you" over and over again. He didn't want to let go, but he knew that he had to. He stayed with her for a long time after she passed, feeling a sense of overwhelming grief that he had never experienced before.

Escanor felt like a piece of his heart had been ripped out as he walked out of the hospital room. He couldn't bear the thought of living without Raza, of facing each day alone. But he knew that he had to be strong, for her.

The days and weeks that followed were a blur. Escanor went through the motions of life, but he felt like he was just going through the motions. Everywhere he looked, he saw reminders of Raza, of their life together. The empty bed in their bedroom, the photo of them on the wall, the smell of her favorite perfume that still lingered in the air.

He tried to keep himself busy with work and household chores, but he couldn't escape the overwhelming sadness that had taken hold of him. He missed her more than words could express, and he felt lost without her by his side.

But then, one day, Escanor stumbled upon an old photo album. As he flipped through the pages, he saw the snapshots of their life together - the good times, the bad times, and everything in between. He saw the picture of them on their wedding day, the trip they took to Paris, and the day they brought home their first puppy. He remembered how happy they had been, how much they had loved each other.

And at that moment, Escanor realized that even though Raza was gone, their love would never truly die. He would always carry her with him, in his heart and his memories. He would never forget the sound of her laughter, the feel of her hand in his, or the way she looked at him with such love and adoration.

He knew that life would never be the same without Raza, but he also knew that he had to keep moving forward, to honor her memory and the love they had shared. He decided to start a journal, to write down all the memories they had made together, and to write down his thoughts and feelings as he continued on this journey without her. Slowly but surely, Escanor began to find his way back to the light. He surrounded himself with friends and family, and he started to see that life could still hold joy and happiness, even in the midst of grief. He took comfort in the fact that Raza would always be a part of him, and that their love would live on, even after death. Years went by, and Escanor grew old. He never forgot Raza, and he cherished their time together, but he also learned to find joy in the present moment. He knew that Raza would want him to be happy, to live life to the fullest, and to remember the love they had shared. And so, as Escanor approached the end of his own life, he did so with a sense of peace and gratitude. He had loved and been loved, and that was all that truly mattered. As he closed his eyes for the last time, he whispered Raza's name, feeling a sense of comfort and love that transcended even death.
