Lila sat alone on the balcony of her apartment, staring out at the city skyline. It had been two weeks since she received the devastating news that her husband, Alex, had been killed in a car accident. She had been trying to keep herself busy, but tonight, the grief had hit her hard.

As she sat there, lost in thought, a soft breeze blew her hair across her face. She closed her eyes and breathed in the cool night air. It reminded her of the countless times she and Alex had sat on this very balcony, watching the sunset and dreaming of their future together.

A single tear rolled down her cheek as she opened her eyes and looked out at the city lights. She felt so alone without Alex by her side. He had been her rock, her best friend, and her soulmate. They had met in college and fell in love instantly. From that moment on, they had been inseparable.

Lila wiped the tear away and stood up, making her way back inside. As she passed by the living room, she caught a glimpse of a photo album on the coffee table. It was filled with pictures of her and Alex over the years. She couldn't resist picking it up and flipping through the pages.

Each photo brought back a flood of memories, both happy and sad. She smiled at the picture of them on their wedding day, but her heart broke all over again when she saw the photo of Alex holding their newborn daughter, Lily.

Lila sat down on the couch and hugged the album close to her chest. She couldn't imagine going on without Alex, but she knew she had to be strong for Lily's sake. She flipped to the last page of the album and saw a note that Alex had written to her.

"My dearest Lila, if you're reading this, it means I'm no longer with you. I want you to know that you have brought so much love and happiness into my life. I will always cherish the memories we made together. Please take care of Lily and know that I will always be watching over you both. I love you more than words can express. - Alex"

Lila cried as she read the note, but she also felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that Alex would always be with her in spirit, and that gave her the strength to carry on.

The next day, Lila decided to take Lily to the park. It was a beautiful day, and the sun was shining brightly. As they walked along the path, Lila couldn't help but feel a sense of emptiness inside. She missed Alex so much, and she wished he was there to enjoy the day with them.

Just then, a gust of wind blew a single yellow leaf across their path. Lila bent down to pick it up, and as she did, she noticed a young couple sitting on a bench nearby. They were holding hands and laughing, lost in their own little world.

Lila felt a pang of jealousy as she watched them. She missed that kind of love and intimacy with Alex. But as she looked down at the leaf in her hand, she realized something. Just like the leaf, her time with Alex had come to an end. But that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the beauty of life and love that was still around her.

She took Lily's hand and continued walking, feeling a newfound sense of hope and determination. Yes, she had lost Alex, but she still had so much to live for. And she knew that Alex would want her to find happiness and love again.

As they walked, Lila thought of the last words Alex had written to her. "I will always be watching over you both." She felt a sense of comfort knowing that he was still with her in some way.

As they rounded a corner, Lila saw a man sitting on a bench, reading a book. He looked up as they approached and smiled at them. Lila felt her heart skip a beat as their eyes met.

"Hello," he said, standing up. "I'm sorry if I'm being forward, but I couldn't help but notice how beautiful you and your daughter are."

Lila felt a blush creep up her cheeks as she smiled back at him. "Thank you," she said, feeling a flutter in her stomach.

They struck up a conversation, and Lila found herself laughing and feeling happy for the first time since Alex's death. The man's name was James, and he was a writer. He told her about his latest book and asked her about her life.

Lila found herself opening up to him in a way she hadn't done since Alex died. She told him about her life with Alex, about their dreams and hopes for the future. She also told him about Alex's death and how she was struggling to move on.

James listened with empathy and understanding. He told her that he had lost someone close to him too and that he knew how hard it was to cope with the pain.

As they talked, Lila felt a connection growing between them. It was like they were two lost souls who had found each other at just the right moment.

When it was time to leave, James asked if he could see her again. Lila felt a surge of happiness as she said yes.

As she walked away with Lily, she knew that she was starting a new chapter in her life. She didn't know what the future held, but she knew that Alex would always be with her in spirit. And she also knew that he would want her to find happiness and love again.

Lila looked up at the sky, and for the first time since Alex's death, she felt a sense of peace. She knew that Alex was watching over her and that he would always be a part of her life.

She took Lily's hand and walked away, feeling grateful for the love she had shared with Alex and hopeful for the love that was yet to come. She knew that the road ahead would be long and difficult, but she also knew that she was strong enough to face it.

The last goodbye had been said, but a new hello was waiting just around the corner. And Lila was ready to embrace it with an open heart.
