Standing on the edge of the building, looking down at the kids dancing and rethinking all the life decisions I've ever made is probably the weirdest feeling ever.
Noah, a high school student, has always found suicide a fun thing. He attempted suicide multiple times but has never been successful. He loved playing basketball. He had an interest in computers. He passed Eighth grade with straight As in all subjects. Between the two month break they had, he started developing depression, his parents were concerned and showed Noah to a therapist who confirmed he had severe depression. After the two month break, Noah met one of his friends Olivia, and they were in the same class. They were friends for a whole year and Olivia had always helped Noah cope with his anxiety and depression. Whenever he needed help with anything, Olivia was always there.
After a month they had their ‘Welcome Back to School party’. It was one of the best and the worst days of Noah's life. A day before the party Noah didn't feel like going to the party but of course, Noah’s mother said, “Noah, I think it's better if you go. You will have a lot of fun, trust me.” And so, Noah was convinced and had to go because he wanted to meet Olivia too.
On the day of the party, Noah’s anxiety was freaking out. He reached school and saw everyone in casual dresses. The school bell rang and Noah and Olivia sat together and had a joyful conversation. Everyone brought their lunch. Some brought pizzas, some brought donuts and etc.
Students were called out for the first activity, which was water fights. Noah didn't play but Fiona was having fun. Noah shouted, “Fiona! I'm very bored…” Fiona replied, “Come on, join in!” Noah shook his head and watched the students play. After the activity, they went back to their class.
Everyone had their lunch while Noah didn't eat much because he felt like throwing up. Meanwhile, Olivia was having a great time, hanging out with her friends. She did check up on Noah if he was okay or not. After the students were done with their lunch, they went to the school ground where songs were being played and the students were dancing casually. Noah wasn't in the mood for any of this. He looked around for Olivia but she was having fun with her friends so he didn't want to disturb her
It was only a matter of time before he found out everyone was on the ground having fun. He found his chance and ran.
Noah ran fast to the roof of the school building. He started thinking about the possible outcomes that could've occurred.
Noah reached the top and saw the sun shining brightly. A young man with no feelings or emotions whatsoever.
Noah reached the edge of the building, and looked down at the kinds dancing to the hip-hop beat. Rethinking all your actions and the possible consequences is truly the weirdest feeling indeed, But he knew what he had to do because he had no other choice.
With his blurry sight he could see the people gathering below him, but the only face visible was Olivia’s. Her tears poured down her cheeks as if she made the biggest mistake of her life. But all Noah could think about was how much of a disappointment he was, not just to his family but to his friends and close ones.
With a little bit of hesitation, he walks off the edge. Flashes of old memories start going through his head but the last thing he could think about was when Noah and Olivia spoke to each other for the first time.
