The key to hell

The key to hell

By 💓 Pulse of Stories 💓Published about a year ago • 4 min read

In a small village surrounded by dense forests and towering mountains, there was an ancient legend about the "Key to Hell." It was said that this key could unlock a gateway to a realm of darkness, where demons and evil spirits dwelled. No one knew exactly where the key was hidden, but the villagers feared it and avoided even speaking of it, afraid that it might bring a curse upon them.

There was a young man named Yaseen who lived in the village with his elderly mother. Yaseen was a curious and adventurous young man who didn’t believe in superstitions or fear legends. He always mocked the villagers' stories about the Key to Hell, considering them mere tales to scare children.

One day, while Yaseen was wandering in the forest searching for firewood, he stumbled upon a strange box buried beneath an ancient tree. The box was made of black wood adorned with eerie carvings, and on its lid was an engraving of a terrifying demonic face. Driven by curiosity, Yaseen opened the box and found inside a large key made of black iron, glinting faintly under the dim sunlight filtering through the trees.

Yaseen immediately remembered the legend of the Key to Hell, but instead of feeling fear, he was filled with excitement. He decided to take the key home with him, ignoring the warnings he had heard all his life. When he arrived home, he told his mother about his discovery, but she panicked and begged him to return the key to its place at once.

"This key is a curse, my son!" she said anxiously. "It will bring evil upon us all."

But Yaseen didn’t listen. He was convinced that the legend was nothing but nonsense and decided to uncover the truth for himself. He began searching for information about the key and soon found an old manuscript in his grandfather’s house that spoke of a hidden gateway to Hell in the mountains.

According to the manuscript, the gateway was located in a deep cave within the Black Mountain, a tall and ominous peak several days' journey from the village. The cave was protected by magical spells and could only be opened using the black key. Yaseen decided to travel to the Black Mountain to see for himself whether the legend was true.

After days of arduous travel, Yaseen reached the foot of the Black Mountain. The mountain was dark and gloomy, with howling winds swirling around its peak. Yaseen began climbing until he reached the entrance of the cave. The entrance was sealed by a massive stone gate, covered in strange carvings similar to those on the box.

Yaseen took out the black key and inserted it into the keyhole on the gate. Slowly, the gate began to creak open, revealing a dark passage leading deep into the mountain. Yaseen felt a chilling breeze brush against his face, but he decided to enter.

Inside the cave, the air was suffocating and filled with the smell of sulfur. The walls were covered in strange symbols, and at the end of the passage, Yaseen saw another gate, but this one was made of fire. Flames roared from the fiery gate, and from behind it, he could hear terrifying sounds resembling the screams of demons.

Yaseen approached the fiery gate and tried to open it using the black key, but he failed. Suddenly, a strange figure appeared before him, half-human and half-demon. Its red eyes glared at him fiercely, and its deep voice shook the entire cave.

"Why have you come here, bold human?" the figure asked.

Yaseen replied confidently, "I want to know the truth. Is this really the gateway to Hell?"

The evil figure laughed and said, "Yes, this is the gateway to the realm of darkness. But you will only be able to open it if you are willing to pay the price."

Yaseen asked, "And what is the price?"

The figure answered, "You must offer me your soul in exchange. Only then will I allow you to enter."

For the first time since he began his journey, Yaseen felt true terror. He realized he had been reckless and that his curiosity had led him into great danger. He tried to retreat, but the evil figure grabbed him with immense strength and began pulling his soul away from his body.

At that moment, Yaseen remembered his mother’s warnings and the words of the villagers. He realized the legend was true, and the Key to Hell was indeed a curse. He struggled to resist, but the evil force was too powerful.

Just as his soul was about to leave his body completely, Yaseen heard a distant voice calling him. It was his mother’s voice, praying for him back in the village. He felt a strange power fill his body and managed to break free from the evil figure’s grip. He grabbed the black key and fled the cave as the fiery gate closed behind him.

When Yaseen returned to the village, he was a changed man. He was no longer the reckless young man who didn’t believe in legends but had become wiser and more humble. He decided to bury the black key in a faraway place where no one could ever find it.

From that day on, the legend of the Key to Hell disappeared from the village, and no one spoke of it again. But Yaseen knew the gateway still existed, waiting for someone bold enough to open it once more.
