The Illusion of Happiness

Hope, Not With Love..

By Ahmet BOLELPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

The clock strikes twelve. Sarah's phone buzzes. The message is from him. The man she's been waiting for. The one who promised to take her away from this place. The one who promised her a better life. She's been waiting for this moment for months. She grabs her bag, checks her wallet, and runs out the door.

She hops on the train and sits down. She looks around the carriage. The people all seem so tired. So worn out. She wonders if they're happy. She wonders if they're waiting for something better. The train rocks back and forth. It lulls her to sleep.

When she wakes up, the train has stopped. She checks her phone. There's a message. "I'm here," it reads. She smiles. She walks out of the station and sees him waiting for her. He's tall, dark, and handsome. He takes her hand and leads her to his car.

They drive for hours. She doesn't know where they're going. She doesn't care. She's happy just to be with him. The car stops in front of a small cabin in the woods. It's rustic, but it's beautiful. He opens the door and leads her inside.

The cabin is cozy. There's a fire burning in the fireplace. He pours her a glass of wine. They sit on the couch and talk. They talk about their dreams. They talk about their fears. They talk about everything.

As the night wears on, they become closer. They kiss. They touch. They make love. It's the most beautiful moment of her life. She falls asleep in his arms, happy, and content.

The next morning, she wakes up to an empty bed. He's gone. She looks around the cabin. There's a note on the table. "I'm sorry," it reads. "I had to go. I hope you find what you're looking for."

Sarah is devastated. She packs her bag and walks out of the cabin. She looks around. The woods are beautiful. She wonders if she'll ever find someone like him again. She wonders if she'll ever be happy. But for now, she just keeps walking, hoping that one day she'll find what she's looking for.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Sarah traveled from town to town, looking for a new beginning, a new purpose. She walked along highways, slept in cheap motels, and begged for scraps of food from strangers.

Despite the hardships, Sarah refused to give up. She remembered the night in the cabin with the man who promised her a better life. She remembered the warmth of the fire, the taste of the wine, the touch of his skin. She longed for that feeling again.

One day, Sarah stumbled upon a small town nestled in the mountains. The air was crisp, and the trees were lush. It felt like a different world compared to the concrete jungle she had left behind.

She wandered into a local café, and the aroma of fresh coffee filled her senses. She ordered a cup and sat at a small table in the corner, watching the people come and go. That's when she noticed him.

He was a middle-aged man, with salt and pepper hair and kind eyes. He walked with a limp and had a slight smile on his face. He approached her and introduced himself as Jack.

They talked for hours, and Sarah felt a connection to Jack that she hadn't felt since the night in the cabin. Jack told her about his life, his struggles, and his dreams. He listened to her stories with genuine interest.

Before she knew it, Sarah had been in town for weeks. She had a job at the café and a room to rent in a nearby boarding house. She had made friends with the locals and felt like she belonged.

But the best part was Jack. They had fallen in love, and it felt like a fairytale. They took long walks in the woods, sat by the river and watched the sunsets. They talked about the future and the adventures they would have together.

Sarah realized that she didn't need the man from the cabin to give her a better life. She had found it on her own. She had found love, purpose, and happiness in the most unexpected of places.

As she lay in bed next to Jack, watching the moonlight dance across the room, she knew that she had finally found what she was looking for. She had found a new beginning, a new purpose, and a new love. And for the first time in a long time, Sarah felt truly content.Sarah walks for what seems like hours until she stumbles upon a small town. She's tired, hungry, and alone. She sees a sign for a job opening at a diner and decides to apply. The owner, a kind woman named Martha, takes her in and gives her a place to stay.

Days turn into weeks, and Sarah settles into her new life. She works hard at the diner and makes friends with the locals. But despite her efforts to move on, she can't shake off the pain of being left alone in the woods.

One day, a man walks into the diner. He's kind, charming, and seems interested in Sarah. She starts to open up to him, telling him about her past, her dreams, and her fears. He listens intently, and she starts to feel a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, she can find love again.

But as they start dating, things begin to unravel. The man becomes possessive, jealous, and controlling. He starts to isolate Sarah from her friends and family, and she begins to feel trapped once again.

One night, after a heated argument, he hits her. She's shocked, scared, and devastated. She realizes that she's fallen for the wrong person again, and that she's back in the same cycle of abuse that she thought she had escaped.

Sarah gathers her strength, packs her bags, and leaves the town. She's hurt, broken, and alone once again. She wonders if she'll ever find happiness, or if she's doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Her heart shattered into a million pieces, wondering if love was worth the pain it brought.
