The Hidden Agenda Of Within The Green Light.
They were silent, biding their time until the moment was right to show themselves.
For many years now, the Earth had been struggling to survive alone in the universe. It was 2157 and human progression of space travel had been halted 100 years prior to today, following the reallocation of the nation's funding globally. Many of the world leaders had long ago, denied ever stating that they had ever 100% backed the human space program.
Many people wondered why after so many years of trying. The only answers that space agency leaders had to share was along the lines of:
'Too many astronauts have died through testing and through orbital training.'
'So much money stockpiled into any space program has proved to be a futile cause.'
'We should be investing our monies into designing & building advanced weaponry.'
The list simply went on and on, with one seemingly common theme shared amongst all of them.
Weapons...
The world was in total disarray over this. The world leaders in one breath had agreed that money had been wasted, and lives had been lost through the now long ago defunct space program, but choosing to spend money on building and designing weapons? Well just how many countless lives would be lost to those on the receiving end of that arsenal?
Nevertheless, it had sadly been given the green go-light by every influencing world leader.

Lauren drove home that night from her office on the third floor of the space agency, she had worked for, over the past 22 years, tired beyond anything she believed to be possible. She drove in complete silence the whole way back of the 32-mile journey that would lead her back to the safety of her home. All she wanted was to curl up in her bed to watch some crap, whatever crap, she could find. For the past seven hours at work, she had been having to provide individual counseling sessions to people she worked with for the whole time she had worked with.
Why? Because her bloody manager had told her that.
'Lauren, you are the best person to do it.'
As she slowed to stop at a red light, Lauren thought to herself.
'Yeah right. You mean to say that I have mug written over my face, and you want me to do your dirty work for you!'
Anyhow Lauren decided that enough was enough for today now. She forced her mind to refocus back to her driving. Tired and overly exhausted, she groaned to herself at the first of three city traffic lights approached.
'Bloody lights... why can't they just all be set to green, then I'd get home a damn sight sooner!' she muttered to herself.
Anyway thoughts were just that... thoughts, as slowed to a stop at the first set.
Almost as suddenly as she had stopped then the traffic lights flicked almost immediately to green.
Anyway simply putting it down to a fluke was enough to satisfy Lauren, She was happy in fact, at least the lights were being nice to her today, unlike her shitty boss.
As the next two sets of traffic lights were on green already, Lauren resigned herself to believe they'd be red just as she crossed the 'Stop' line.
The light just remained on green and did not even display any indications of the tiny flicker it had always used to do, that split second before it changed to amber... but no amber... it remained green, but this time the green light was ever so slowly enlargening its field of luminescent glow outwards from its metal casing.
'Bloody green light, it will blow if it gets any brighter!' mused Lauren.
Lauren suddenly blinked her eyes, somehow her thoughts reconnecting her to her senses, and asking herself why she was stopped? Her foot was steadfast on the gas pedal and her brake lights were off, so why the hell was she not moving.
Suddenly and without any warning, the car began to be enveloped within, what she could only imagine was a mesmerizing depth of pure green light, around her. But as she glanced at herself and pinched the skin on her lower arm, to check was awake and had not fallen asleep at the wheel, she noted that her skin was glowing within the same green light.
As if out of nowhere, a rounded deep green light, stronger in intensity than the green light that was currently swathing throughout the car. Lauren pinched her lower arm again, sensing the pinch; she was still here, still real, so just what the hell was going on?
Out of nowhere, a tinny-sounding droning noise began to emanate from within the rounder depth of the green rounded light.
'We have been watching you, your life, and those around you for some time now,' almost spoken in a non-threatening tone.
'Why are you doing this...erm... what is your name, do you have one?' came a very weak and trembling Lauren.
'We have no names, as you call them. We remain all as one and the same existence,' countered the green light. As the voice could be heard, the deeper hue of the rounded green light began shimmering.
It continued as Lauren remained silent and almost trance-like in the current environment. But she felt as though she was asleep and simply dreaming.
'We have been watching you all across the world, by using our non-corporeal lives and blending into these primitive statues you all call green lights.' the voice continued, 'we do not wish to harm, we wish to watch and monitor the progress of life on here, then we will show ourselves to your world. You are not ready for us to make ourselves known. We have seen your like kill, and fight, you are far too primitive for us...'
The rounded deep green light spoke again, 'you found us as your intense emotions surfaced allowing us to access your body.'
Lauren was trembling uncontrollably now and found herself able to move once more.
'But how could you understand, I mean, how can you speak?'
'We have been watching your kind from within these green lights you call traffic lights. The intense green light provides to us a vessel through which we, you, can understand. But we are leaving now, we will return one day when your planet is prepared to open its hearts to us.'
And with that, the green light began to fade into darkness. Lauren shook herself and tried to focus upon the traffic light, the car was now dark, the electronics were off... the traffic lights were dark and inactive.
7 am. Lauren opened her eyes, blinking at the sun's rays, as they permeated throughout her bedroom, bathing everything in light. Had she dreamed about whatever had happened? She could not remember, and as hard as she did try, she could not recollect the events or anything that happened the night before.
She could not remember driving home from the office last night.
Just her bloody boss and his damned green light sitting on his desk...
