The Great escape

Or a forgotten face?

By Andie EmersonPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Blowsy eyes rummaging the crowd for a face. That face I so casually discarded–spring cleaning gone wrong.

It’s been days. Weeks maybe.

My fridge is hoarding food that may never see the light of day again–who knew there were so many grocery stores around? "Soy latte to go" is on every single barista's lips in town.

Countless staredowns with naked windows while chasing all 137 square miles… the sight of you has yet to reappear. Where did you go?

Clink clink–empties on the counter.

Thump–restock.

ID up, a "have you seen them?" sideswipes the clerk.

"You mean… you?"

"Mm-hmm."
