The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. What was left of it at least. Could I even call it a river, it looks not much more than a creek within a canyon carved from the monstrous force it once was. But enough of that, that was the bi product of what had been. Dry season after dry season, water becoming sparse, food running low, and tempers high within the walls of the city, let alone the villages about it. The people, they blame her, the queen that is. They say it is her fault the gods have not blessed us with rain, that they do not fill our rivers and lakes, that they do not water our lands and our crops. Maybe they are right... if you believe such things that is.

I myself do not, being someone of science I believe natural causes of such things. It is the ebbs and flows of nature is it not. Like that old saying “to rise from the ashes”. Sometimes even nature needs to burn, so it can grow from the ashes of it former glory. I do not say these things around here of course, the other villagers would have me on the stake by nights end, I would be my own ashes by morning. But that is just how things are around here, very... well, very under developed I guess you could say.

Oh the queen, yes yes I almost forgot while mulling over my own thoughts there. I am sorry, I do get distracted quite easily I am afraid, but back on track now. Well from what we heard out here in the village, the queen went missing in the early hours of this morning. A chambermaid had gone to her majesty’s room to wake her up for breakfast and found the chamber empty, well almost empty. There was a note left for the royal family they say, supposedly it goes something along the lines of this.

“Your queen has failed our people. If you too fail, expect what is coming to you.”

Quite sinister I might say, although short, sweet and to the point. I’d work on being more direct myself If I did not love a bit of drama haha oh my. But yes there is no news of where she might be, no indication either they are saying. My thoughts go to the young prince who has quite a role to step up into at his age, and an impossible one at that if he is expected to change the weather for christ sake, as I can quite confidently presume that is the reason for this mutiny if we can call it that. Filthy animals they can be, some of the villagers I mean. I have wondered to myself how they got into the castle, and as if that would not be hard enough, they went undetected with a captive. Oh what a brain teaser that is. I tell you now, I might be up late the next few nights just thinking this one over, the ideas alone are exciting. Although I am sure the events that unfolded are dull and simple once you unravel the story in whole. Not to put a dampener on your imagination.

Well then, I guess that is all I know on the matter. what, you thought I could tell you where the queen is? I am no prophet haha, but do come see me when you hear something of this develop... I do love a good gossip as you might be able to tell dearie. And I do think we will be talking about this some more very soon indeed.
