The Girl with the Glowing Eyes

AFTER ALL YOU'VE DONE, JUST WAIT TILL I GET MY HANDS ON YOU! WHY I'M GONNA- I guess it's best to start at the beginning. On a Saturday morning about 9:47 am, it was a cold winter morning. My cat Aisuru was sleeping at the foot of my bed. Snow was falling off the branches of the trees due to a gentle breeze outside. In the living room, there was a crackling fireplace and breakfast smelled wonderful.

On this lovely Saturday morning, everything felt like it had been a long time ago. I am Emiko Hara, 18 years old, and live alone, I love gaming, watching movies, consuming yummy food, and spending time with animals. I don't have many friends, and I spend most of my time alone. Kazuko, Isamu, and Akemi are my regular friends. I've known them since middle school, and since I live alone, I enjoy their company quite a bit... But that's a story for another time. Today, however, I won't be seeing them.

I'm just now waking up, "I usually wake up earlier, hmm. Not right now I'm too tired to think I need some kind of food first!" I think. "Come here Aisuru!" I say as I pour some food into her dish while petting her. "hmm... I wonder... What should I eat today? I think I'll have some..... Miso Shiru!! yeah mmm yeah that's what I think I'll have." I prepare breakfast shortly after and then get ready to head to the store for some groceries.

I slip on my jacket and I'm rea- "OH THAT'S RIGHT!" I startle Aisuru with my yell. Apologizing to Aisuru, I grab MY bracelet, "Alrighty then, I'll be back in a little bit Aisuru! don't get into too much trouble without me!"

Hmm ok then... "let's check out the list"

Chips

Rice

Pocky

Ramen

Milk

Grapes

Strawberries...

Wow... "THAT'S A LOT OF STUFF!" I said a little too loud. "Oops, I'm sorry everyone" I laugh off nervously. "oh man Emiko you're making a fool out of yourself here aren't you..." "All right then I'm finally here.." "OK I think that's everything" I sigh deeply after paying "wow that's a lot of mon-" "HEYYYYYY EMIKOOOOOO" "hmmm who's that?"

To my surprise, I see Kazuko Gushiken running toward me! A little bit of background knowledge Kazuko Gushiken is one of the three in my friend group and she's the happiest of the group as well, she never ceases to put a smile on the group's face! "Oh, hey Kazuko!" "erm, what a coincidence!" "well isn't this interesting" "LOOKS LIKE I CAUGHT YOU RIGHT IN TI-" "you don't have to be so loud Kazu" "Oh... that's right, well anyway" "man there she goes again that's my Kazu" "I'm glad I caught you, I was wondering if I could come home with you for a little while..." "uh... Yeah, sure! Are they fi-" "yeah..." Kazuko says cutting me off "all right then! Let's go shall we!" Kazu brightens up and tells me about her day so far. "Yeah, I was pretty much-playing games all morning!" She says while laughing. Kazuko and I have just arrived at my house, I unlock the door, and Aisuru bolts straight to Kazuko, "wow she loves you more than me huh" I saw with a chuckle "Oh please Emiko you raised her" she says chuckling. "Have you talked to any cute guys lately?" Kazuko says "well there is this one gu-" "wow Emiko... YOU FINALLY MET SOMEONE" she says laughing hysterically. I let out a small sigh and flop down onto the bed, "yeah... Yeah, I think I have met someone" I say "Ok them Em... Tell me about him." "well I mean what do you want to know about him?.." "Wow Em it's just like back in middle scho-" I shot Kazuko a look, not like the good kind of look either it's the more don't talk about it kind of look. Kazuko instantly gets the hint and drops the middle school topic. "Ok then let's do this I'll ask you about him, you just answer the questions about Ms. Indecisive "that's not really how to use the word indecisive but I'll play your game anyway Kazu, ask away" "All right first question what's his name?" "Chiyo Kubo" "second question..." The time was flying and I couldn't believe how late it was. "You know what, I'm just going to ask her if she wants to stay the night. It's already twelve." Little did I know that was the night that would kickstart everything...

Kazuko and I talked for a little while more and shortly after we both went to sleep. The next morning rolled by quickly and Kazuko was still sleeping, I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror "hmm, Kakuzo is still asleep I always wake up earlier than her so it's not that much of a surprise..." I yawned on my way to the bathroom and rubbed my eyes. I looked in the mirror and "what the..." I would've screamed but I was in too much shock to even do that and not to mention I would wake up Kazuko. I rubbed my eyes some more but no matter how hard I tried it was no use... "it wouldn't go away... My... My eyes are..." "MY EYES ARE GLOWING" "I must be dreaming, I must be dreaming... This can't be real..." "I've heard about this, it was a legend, I can't recall the legend... BUT NONETHELESS IT'S STILL A LEGEND" "I can't let Kazu see me like this... My storybook! That has the legend"

I ran to my bookcase as quickly and quietly as possible to not wake Kazu. I quickly got the book and ran back to the bathroom, after flipping through the book I found the legend I was looking for. "Wow, it's been a while since I've flipped through this old book" I say while flipping through the pages. "FOUND IT!" I say flipping to the second to last page "Hmm, it's pretty far back in the book. I'm a little surprised honestly, I guess I've forgotten where it was, after all, it has been a couple of years since I last read it." I read the pages carefully, shocked that Kazuko is still sleeping after all this time. "Ok, let's see what we have here" I say half mumbling to myself. "Yeah yeah yeah... Oh? This looks promising" "The glowing eyes marked the chosen one as a target for the dark and mysterious monsters..." "Well that's just great isn't it..." "OH, here's something else that might." "The chosen one has unmistaken skill, strength, magic technique, and heart." "I didn't want this... I didn't want any of this... I mean it's cool and all but... I didn't want this to happen I’m… I’m… I’m the chosen one? But... But how?
