The Girl With No Name
Hiding in the Shadows of Your Pain

The darkness became her best friend. Oh, how beautiful the darkness was. No one could see her....No one could find her....She was safe as she sat on her bed. She didn't have to talk to no one. She didn't have to share the pain that she was feeling.
The silence was her escape from everyone and everything. Her mind began to wonder at how great it would be just to open up...just to be able to speak with her mouth and hear her voice....Just once...Why was it so hard to voice her pain. If only....She could become the girl that everyone would speak to ...That everyone would notice she was someone.
Was it her personality or was it her gender? Why did no one understand how she felt. Why was it so hard for someone just to speak to her.. The only voices she could hear was in the darkness...The inner voice that would continue to be her only friend.
She sat and began to look at her surroundings and began to give them names so that she would have friends.
The bedroom became her safe place. It was where she could speak and speak freely.
Why do I feel this way? Why is the pain so great that I cannot overcome it?
She opened the window and began to feel the breeze of the wind as it blew through the room. What a wonderful feeling, the cool, calm breeze that entered into her safe place.
She began to open up and speak what she was feeling to the wind. " I am alone here, but I feel the coolness of your voice. I enjoy spending time with you. You are free....you can go wherever you want to go...You can share yourself with everyone or no one if you choose to . What freedom you have. If only I can mingle and bring peace just to someone...Someone who would notice that I am a human being. That I am alive wanting to share their world, their peace, the joy, their happiness.
As she sat on her bed and enjoyed speaking to the wind, she felt as though the wind had became a friend, but as the breeze became to leave the room, once again she sat alone, once again there was no one there that she could speak to, that she could hear her own voice speak.
How she longed to be heard, just to have someone notice that she desired to be loved, to be close to someone. This pain inside of her just would not allow her to speak.
Was this her life, was this how it was always going to be? Please, Mr. Pain just go away, release me so I can speak, allow me to feel alive....to be someone who I want to be.
As she sat on her bed, she decided to go to the window and look outside. The breeze had left, but it made her feel like she had feelings, true feelings in her life.
How could she release this pain? I want to hear my voice with my ears, not just in my mind. Allow me to be me...The girl who has a name.. Someone who is just like the rest of you.
All at once she stared into the skies and saw many bright lights, and the moon shining so bright. Wow, she thought. There is so much beauty in the world. So much peace...So much light that was shining all around.
This darkness that she had lived in all of her life was becoming an area that she had to destroy. An area that she had to move out of. These shadows was taking her life from her. She had to overcome this fear of speaking, the fear of hearing her own voice speak.
As the stars were shining down upon her, it was like they were speaking and saying, " There is life in the darkness. We light up the darkness so that it becomes brightness. We light your path so that you can accomplish those things that you desire to do.' Open up your heart, it will speak to you and direct your ways. Just speak...
She then saw the brightness of the moon and she realized that even in the darkness there is still light. There is hope. There is strength to overcome all fears.
She sat there for hours watching the darkness disappear and all at once, there was no darkness, it had become daylight. Just as the darkness disappear in a few hours, I can allow my darkness to go and become a girl with a name.
She had lived in her bedroom for several years, not allowing herself to function in front of people, even her own family. She had kept them in the darkness that was her best friend.
She slowly opened up her door, and stepped into the living room where her dad, mom and sisters were sitting. She began to move closer to her family. How could she speak, how could she allow herself to become a living person with a voice.
Her mom turned around and realized that she had moved out of the bedroom and now she was actually standing in front of the family. It was a miracle that she had came out of her room. After several years, here her daughter was becoming her daughter once again.
The questions kept running through her mom's mind. What had caused her to become a girl with no name. What happened to make her feel like she could only live in the darkness of her bedroom.
What do we do now? Do we run up and hug her, do we just wait for her to approach us? I wanted the darkness to disappear, I wanted to hold my daughter, my little girl that had separated herself from us? As her mom I had longed to hold her, to hug her, to comfort her, to be her safety the way it should be. She hadn't allowed that for me. So now, here she is standing in front of me with the pain all over her face. I have to help her release this pain....it had become her rock, her security, her life, her best friend.
The girl with no name, began to move closer to her mother. As she reached arms distance, her mom could see her eyes, the pain that she had been carrying. Mom knew that she was reaching out...She wanted help. She wanted someone to take the pain away so she could be herself once again.
Mom slowly, but lovingly, opened up her arms to allow her daughter to lie in them. The girl with no name began to realize that there was light in the darkness. She realized that she had to trust the light.. She had to allow it to overcome the darkness that she had lived in for years.
As she opened her arms, Mom knew that it was the right time, the time to hold her, to love her, to comfort her, to become her light in her darkness. Her daughter suddenly allowed Mom to reach her, to touch her, to hold her.
As they embraced, her mom could see a tear developing in her daughter's eyes. She knew then that Mr. Pain was trying to release her daughter. As she held her daughter, the rest of the family surrounded them and offered their arms of comfort too.
Darkness was disappearing as her daughter allowed the love of her family to defeat her fears, her pain and mostly her best friend. . DARKNESS.
It seemed like it was hours that they all just embraced, and cried, and held each other. As the pain left her daughter's life, you could see the light in her world switch on. Just as she began to smile...Sunlight became to fill the room in which they were standing.
This reunion had been blessed with the sunshine of life. The brightness of the sun began to warm up the room.
As they stood there.....Mom, spoke and said" Brandy, welcome home. We all love you more than any pain you could feel and we will be your comfort, your love, your joy, your happiness and your safety. We are your light in the darkness and now you can live again.
Brandy, looked at her whole family and as she stood there, shaking and very nervous, her mouth began to open and she heard herself speak. Her voice was heard not just in her mind, but she could finally hear her own voice with her own ears. What an amazing feeling, she thought as she listened.
They all began to speak and let her know how much love they had for her and how proud they were that she had overcome her darkness.
"Brandy, Brandy, Brandy. Wow, she heard her name spoken. Spoken with love and understanding. She then spoke her name over and over and over again. The girl with no name had finally heard who she truly was. Who she wanted to be.
From that day forward, Brandy began to make new friends. She began to shop in public places. The darkness that had held her hostage for so many years was now gone.
She thanked the moon, the stars, and the wind for being her friend, but most of all for instructing her that light will overcome the darkness. You must walk out of the shadows and allow the light to overtake your darkness. Brandy now became the girl with a name. No longer did she have to hide or be afraid.
As the day ended, Brandy went into her room and she began to turn the lights on, she opened up her window once again to allow her friends to see what she had overcome.
Mr. Pain was no longer part of her life. As she sat there thinking about how great it feels to be heard she realized that bullying is darkness and she must not allow it to happen to her again. It will destroy your life, it will totally destroy you. It will take your identity, your personality, your life.
The love of her family from that day on, allowed Brandy to realize that there is light in the darkness, you must allow yourself to step into the light. It is waiting for you. It is your safety, your joy, your peace and your new life.
Now the girl without a name had become who she really was, Brandy. Someone that could speak and speak freely. Someone who give love and get love in return. Someone who has life, freedom and peace from the darkness that had taken her life for so many years.
Brandy is now living her dreams of becoming a psychologist who helps others to destroy the darkness in their own lives. WOW! Life is fun it is worth living.
