"The Ghost of the Old Bed and Breakfast"

"A Tale of Courage and Triumph Over Fear"

By Suresh ChermanduraiPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

It was a dark and stormy night, the kind of night that makes you want to curl up in bed with a good book and a hot cup of cocoa. But for Anna, it was just another night of work at the old, run-down bed and breakfast on the outskirts of town.

The place had always given her the creeps, with its creaky floors and eerie atmosphere. But Anna needed the job, and the pay was decent enough to outweigh her fear.

As she went about her duties, cleaning the rooms and preparing for the next batch of guests, Anna couldn't shake the feeling that someone, or something, was watching her. She tried to brush it off as her imagination getting the best of her, but the feeling only grew stronger as the night wore on.

Finally, as the clock struck midnight, Anna decided she had had enough. She gathered up her things and headed for the door, eager to get home and lock herself safely in her bed.

But as she reached for the doorknob, she felt a cold, clammy hand wrap around her wrist. She turned to see a ghostly figure standing before her, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.

Anna screamed and tried to pull away, but the ghost's grip was too strong. It leaned in close, its breath cold against Anna's face as it spoke in a voice that sent shivers down her spine.

"You shouldn't have come here," it hissed. "This place is mine, and I won't let anyone leave alive."

Anna's heart raced as she struggled to break free, but it was no use. The ghost was too strong, and she knew that she was doomed.

Just as all hope seemed lost, a bolt of lightning struck the ghost, sending it stumbling backwards. Anna took her chance and ran, not looking back until she was safely out the door and running down the road as fast as her legs would carry her.

She didn't stop until she reached the safety of her own home, where she locked the doors and windows and huddled under the blankets, shaking with fear.

From that day on, Anna never returned to the old bed and breakfast. And as the years passed, she often wondered what had become of the ghost that had terrorized her that night. But she knew that she would never dare to find out, for the fear of what she might encounter was too great.

As the days went by, Anna tried her best to put the incident at the old bed and breakfast behind her. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake the feeling that the ghost was still out there, waiting for her.

She found herself jumping at every little noise and constantly looking over her shoulder, expecting to see the ghostly figure lurking in the shadows.

Despite her fear, Anna knew that she couldn't just hide away forever. She had to face her fears and find a way to rid herself of the ghost once and for all.

So, she began to research everything she could about ghosts and how to banish them. She scoured the internet and visited libraries, desperate to find a solution.

Finally, after weeks of searching, Anna stumbled upon an old book that seemed to hold the key to her problem. It was a book of ancient spells and incantations, and one in particular caught her eye.

According to the book, if Anna could find a way to confront the ghost and recite the incantation, it would be forced to leave her alone and move on to the next plane of existence.

Anna knew that it was a long shot, but she was desperate and willing to try anything. So, with the book in hand, she set off back to the old bed and breakfast, determined to put an end to her ghostly tormentor once and for all.

As she approached the place, Anna could feel the ghost's presence growing stronger. She knew that it was waiting for her, ready to pounce the moment she set foot inside.

But she was not afraid. She had come too far to turn back now, and she was determined to see this through to the end.

Anna took a deep breath and stepped through the door, her heart racing with fear and determination. The ghost was there, standing before her with a wicked grin on its face.

"So, you've come back to face me," it said. "You're braver than I thought."

Anna didn't respond. She simply held out the book and began to recite the incantation, her voice steady and strong.

The ghost let out a howl of rage as the words of the incantation took hold. It tried to fight back, but it was no match for the ancient magic of the spell.

As the last word left Anna's lips, the ghost let out a final, ear-piercing scream and disappeared, leaving nothing behind but a faint wisp of smoke.

Anna let out a sigh of relief and closed the book, feeling a weight lifted off her shoulders. She had done it. She had faced her fears and defeated the ghost.

As she left the old bed and breakfast, Anna knew that she would never forget the night she spent there. But she also knew that she was stronger for having faced her fears and triumphed over them.

And as she walked home, a sense of peace and calm washed over her, knowing that she would never have to look over her shoulder again.
