The Frozen World

I get up and leave the school with Hunter. We go home to get ready. I cleaned and sharpened my weapons, then I dressed for cold weather. Rose was curled up sleeping on my pillow. Strange name for a water dragon yes but when I found her she was stuck in a Rose bush. with an injured wing and covered in scratches from the thorns. At the time I was helping a village that worships dragons. A gang of thugs were looking to kill the baby dragons there and sell them to get rich. I didn’t like that so I helped out. When we won the fight I ran back to Rose, helped her get free then treated her wound. That's when the mayor of the village told me everyone was gathering to talk to the elder dragon.

I followed him carrying a Rose. The elder dragon was huge as in as big as a mountain. I honestly didn’t understand what was happening until Rose hopped out of my arms and ran to the elder dragon. The mayor had asked why I was holding her and I explained what happened. I was then told that Rose was actually the Elder dragon's last daughter because she was too old to have any more offspring. So I wasn’t expecting the Elder dragon to give me her last daughter as a gift but she did and Rose has been with me since. That was three years ago. She’s an adult now but she chose to stay small because she likes sleeping on my bed.

“Come on cutiepie” I said as I picked her up. “Time to go I need you to give me a ride” She yawned as I took her out of my room”

“Ready to go?” Hunter asked.

“Yes I am and so is Rosy”

“You two better be careful.” Leanna said as she handed us our travel bags. “I packed everything you could need including food and medical supplies.”

“Thanks Anna.” I said shouldering my bag

“Yeah, thanks mom. I’ll see you soon” Hunter said.

Once we were out of town. Rose grew into her full size so we could climb on. We were about to climb on when our teammates arrived.

“What are you guys doing here?” I asked

“Yeah about that. Mom said if you wanted to avoid a lecture we had to bring more people to back us up. So I called our teammates.

“And you guys are willing to go on a mystery mission? With no information or any idea of how dangerous it’s going to be?”

“Oh Come on you know we live for danger” Leo said with a chuckle

“Beside I have a feeling there will be quite a few men we’ll have to fight” Billy said as she gently brushed her light brown hair off her left shoulder “And you know how much I enjoy watching that shock appear on their faces.”

“I guess if you're sure” I said before climbing onto Rose and the others followed. We were in the air for about three hours when I heard a squeal. I quickly sat up and saw Cleo with the look of fear. I followed her gaze and found Rose’s mother flying next to us. “It’s ok, this is Rose’s mother.”

“She’s huge. She’s bigger than rose”

“I think it's because she’s a queen dragon of this area.”

Billy giggles in delight as she flutters her wings and flies over to get a better look at her Leo and Cleo did the same.

“It sucks not having wings,” Hunter said as he watched our friends fly around.

“Falling from the sky can be fun too” I told him, then stood and let the wing push me off. I fell through the sky. I flipped to see up and found everyone diving after me. Rose and her mother were the fastest they circled as they dove. Then they both breathed water and Ice at me which caused a beautiful spiral. I saw visions in the spiral of water and Ice. They were similar to my dream. It could have been the sunlight shimmering and reflecting on the Ice and water but I had a feeling that wasn’t the case. When the spiral ended I landed on Rose again and carefully sat up

“Never do that again!” Hunter said as he hugged me.

“But that was awesome.”

The others landed next to us. “I have to admit that was really cool the way the dragons spun like that” Cleo said

“And the way the water and Ice spiraled around you I wonder why they did that?” Billy asked.

“To show me more visions though I’m not sure what it means. All I know is there is going to be fighting at some point”

“That’s expected on a dangerous mystery mission” Leo said

I watch as Rose and her mom nuzzles then her mom then she nodded at me before flying away. “It’s amazing how you have respect from a dragon.” Cleo said.

“Yeah well I rescued. Rose and helped protect their home village. So i’m not surprised about the respect”

After another three hours we arrived. When we landed at the large pond I stared at the frozen waters remembering my dream. As the sun set the sky looked like it was bleeding and the snow shimmered with that red light. Maybe that's what I was seeing and the screaming was just the crowd that was watching the fight but what about the creatures I saw.

“You don’t belong here. I have to respectfully ask you to leave.” A new voice said. There was a man and woman standing in the center of the frozen pond.

“She said you need to leave.” The man said.

“Hey we came to help you-” Hunter started to defend me but I put my hand on his arm to make him stop.

I noticed that all around us creatures started to come out of hiding Fairies and Elves, Giants as tall as trees who looked like they were made of ice, Horses that looked to be made from the snow or the cold black water underneath the ice. These weasel looking creatures and even human like creatures other than the two on the lake but you knew just by looking into their eyes they were not human.

“Creatures of the cold,” Hunter mumbled.

“KILL THEM ALL!!!!” a voice came from behind me. I spun around and found at least fifty people running towards us. The creatures all around us either ran away or ran over to defend their friends.

“Protect them!” I demanded from my friends as I dream my sword from its sheath
