Slowly the teen girl flutters her eyes open to a buzzing sound as she shifts around her bed; she rolls over almost to the edge of the bed before staring at the alarm clock. She raised her hand up and with a quick whack she caused the buzzing sound on her alarm to stop.
"Oh, shut up." she muttered as she rolled back over, putting her face into the pillow. "Just- five more minutes..." Skyla managed with a groan.
"Skyla!!" Another voice yells out to the girl, barging into her bedroom.
Skyla slowly turns her head looking at her roommate who barged in only for her to roll her eyes before putting her head back into the pillow.
"Hey! Don't roll your eyes at me, Missy!" Her roommate scolds, putting her hand on her hip.
Skyla sits up in her bed, glancing over at her. "Ugh Lily-" Just as Skyla was about to complain, Lily suddenly shoved a chicken biscuit into her mouth.
"Shush child, just eat." She patted her head as Skyla stared up at her like she's insane. "We have a busy day today."
She takes the biscuit out of her mouth and nibbles on the biscuit. "What are we doing that you had to come in and wake me up on the last day of sleeping in..." She groans exhausted, a small yawn escaping her lips.
"We're going shopping~!" Lily exclaims, suddenly swinging her arms around and jumping like a child.
"Do I have too...?" She muttered as her roommate stopped her movements, looking at her with a serious look.
"Yes." Lily states, causing Skyla to sigh while taking another bite of her biscuit. "Okay fine. Let me get ready then." Her roommate nodded excitedly, as she slowly turned, walking out of her room.
Skyla gets up from her bed, after she finished eating the chicken biscuit, and walks over to her closet. She grabs some clothes, changing into a pair of jeans and a light purple top with a pair of grey toms. She brushed her hair quickly before throwing it up into a messy bun and grabs her purse while walking downstairs where she sees Lily standing there in a pair of ripped Jeans and a loose striped t-shirt with black boots to finish her outfit.
"Girl, we look fabulous." Lily states, snapping her fingers in a 'Z' shape causing Skyla to giggle at her roommate's silliness. "All right!" Lily claps her hands. "Let's get this shopping day started!" With that, she grabs onto Skyla's arm and drags her out of the house.
Several hours later. The girls finally finished shopping. "Lily! Why did you get so many things!" Skyla cried out, tiredly.
"Sorry! Not sorry! I found a bunch of cute outfits." She states, happily with her hands on her hips.
"Ah, you- Why are you making me carry all your bags?" She asked, trudging behind her roommate.
"Oh... I may have forgotten I gave them to you." A giggle escapes Lily's lips, as she grabs some bags off her arms.
"Can we please just go home?" Skyla asks, groggily.
Lily sighs, pouting her bottom lip out. "But Skyla~!! I want to shop more!" She complained, swinging her arms around like a little kid throwing a tantrum.
"No. You already bought enough. Come on." She admonished out.
"Ugh fine! I guess it is getting a little late." She says, giving in to her demands.
"Yes, it is... and I'm getting hungry!" Skyla whines.
"Me too... Come on, let's go then." Lily smiles at her before marching ahead.
"Hey! Wait up for me!" She calls out, chasing after her.
The girls eventually make it home, and Skyla instantly crashes onto the couch after setting the bags down onto the floor. Lily sets the bags she was carrying down with the ones that Skyla carried. She then sits down, starting to go through them gawking at every single piece of clothing she picks up.
"Well, that was tiring, wasn't it Skyla?" Lily asks, separating the bags of clothes into different piles.
"Yep." she hums in response.
"Hey, let me put these clothes up in our rooms then let's watch a movie." She suggests, standing up and grabbing a pile.
"Yeah sure... I'll go make us some popcorn and get the movie ready." Skyla smiled, standing up from the couch.
Skyla pads to the kitchen and pop some popcorn in the microwave. The sounds of the popcorn popping filled the room as she slowly let her thoughts consume her mind. 'I'm so nervous for tomorrow... Starting at a new school is always so stressful.' She sighs to herself. 'What if Lily's friends don't like me...? What if I get bullied again like at my old school?'
Beep Beep
The microwave goes off, causing her to break her train of thought; she slowly pours the popcorn into a bowl.
Once she's finished, she walks over to the fridge, grabbing Lily and her a drink. Skyla nips back into the living room, setting the bowl onto the coffee table with their drinks, turning on Lily's and her favorite movie. Soon enough Lily comes back downstairs and plops herself onto the couch right next to her.
"Movie time~!" She chants, picking up the bowl of popcorn off the coffee table. Skyla smiles and grabs her drink, taking herself a sip, as the movie starts.
The next morning Skyla slowly wakes to Lily screaming outside of her door
. "Skyla! Get up!!" She didn't want to move- at all; she was too nervous for school. "Skyla! Are you up?!" She continues to scream, knocking on her door.
"I-I'm up!" Skyla stuttered out.
"I left your outfit on your dresser!" She calls out, then she can hear Lily's pad footsteps get further from the door. She slowly gets up, only feeling herself get even more anxious. She walks over to her dresser, looking at the brand-new clothes Lily bought. A sigh escapes her lips as she ambles her way to the bathroom.
After Skyla finishes getting dressed, she hurries and brushes her hair, trying to make herself look presentable. After making two small braids, she ties them together with a white bow. She brushes her bangs once more, as she looks at herself in the mirror. A loosely tied light-blue t-shirt, with a black skirt. 'Lily has good taste in clothes.' She thinks to herself, as she twirls in front of the mirror, giggling at herself. She takes one last look at herself and walks out of the bathroom, having some confidence in her outfit. She grabs her black boots, slipping them on, before waltzing downstairs.
As soon as Skyla sees Lily, she suddenly loses all her confidence, remembering school.
"Hey, are you all right?" Lily inquires, sauntering over to Skyla, her once contagious smile falling into a frown, as concern washes over taking its place.
"Yeah, I'm just nervous." Skyla muttered under her breath as she watched Lily slowly smile once again, putting her hand up onto Skyla's shoulder.
"You'll be just fine. I'll introduce you to my friends, okay?" She beamed. Skyla simpered to assure her that she's fine.
Suddenly Lily falters over to the front door, grabbing her keys off its holder. "We have to go! We will be late!" She panics, running out of the door. Skyla follows behind after grabbing her slip-on jacket and backpack, closing and locking their front door. She turns back, and sees Lily already in the driver's side of the car, with the vehicle started up. She gets on the passenger's side. As soon as she closed the door and buckled up, Lily zoomed out of the driveway.
They make it to the school, and Skyla admires the tall building, from the window, as Lily pulls into a parking spot.
"Wow. So, this is where you go to school?" She gapes at the sight in front of her.
A tall, three-story building, with a giant clock in the center of the building. Lily giggles at her, as she unbuckles.
"Well yes, but this is now where you go too."
Skyla turns and looks at her, slowly nodding her head. "Yeah, I guess that's true." She agrees, unbuckling.
They both get out, when Lily suddenly prances down to the entrance, as Skyla follows behind as closely as she could. She looks around, notices everyone's eyes on them, causing Skyla to get even more nervous. 'Is Lily popular?' She thinks to herself, as she tugs on her slip-over jacket. She looks at Lily who looks as if she doesn't even notice.
An unfamiliar voice calls out, "Lily!" running over to her before pulling her into a hug.
Skyla tries to saunter her way over to them only for her to trip over her foot, landing on her face right in front of them.
She slowly looks up only for her eyes to meet with a pair of emerald-colored eyes. Suddenly the person lifted her up and hugged her tightly.
"Ah! Who do we have here?" He asks, pulling away still holding onto her. Skyla just stares at him terrified as she finally gets a good look at the boy. Black hair, bright emerald eyes and very masculine.
"This is Skyla." Lily speaks up, smiling at her as Skyla stares back at her, terrified.
Suddenly a semi deep voice calls to them making the boy holding her turn his head. "Leave that poor girl alone won't you, Chris?"
Skyla turned her head to the boy wearing a football jersey with dirty blonde hair, and beautiful deep blue eyes that gazed upon her. Chris gently puts her down, pouting his bottom lip out.
The beautiful blonde boy walks over to Skyla, smiling a huge blissful smile. "Hi, I'm Isaac."
He reaches his hand out, and she grabs his back, smiling back at him. "Nice to meet you, I'm Skyla." She responds by shaking his hand however he suddenly took the chance to pull her into a hug.
He gently lets her go and shyly laughs. "Sorry, I'm a cuddly person."
She slowly nods her head, her cheeks flushing a light pink, which made her look down in embarrassment. She lifted her head again and was about to say something however two beautiful girls walked over to them, looking Skyla up and down.
"Gross." One on the left muttered, causing Skyla to look down on the verge of tears; however, she hurried and blinked the tears away before anyone noticed.
"So how did you meet Lily?" The right one demanded pointing her newly polished nail at her.
"I- um We have always been friends." She stuttered out, looking at the girl terrified.
"So, she hangs out with you because she's forced too. Poor her." She stated, looking over at Lily sympathetically.
Lily puffs her cheeks out in anger, stomping over to the girls. "No, I hang-out with her because she's my best friend, and I love her for not being a stuck-up bitch who only knows how to talk shit like you two." She protested, pointing her finger at the girls. "So, if you don't like it then leave." Lily glared at them before turning back to Skyla. "They are not my friends nor will they ever be." She stated, walking over to her. "They are just trying to get closer to Isaac, little hoes." Lily links arms together with Skyla, smiling.
They walk into the school as if nothing happened, with Chris and Issac following behind them. Lily shows Skyla around the school while Isaac and Chris follow behind. Isaac stares at Skyla for a while. 'Who is this girl? She is stunning,' he thought. 'I- Wait what? Ugh Issac! Just shut up! You have a girlfriend, Idiot! You love her, don't you?' He scolded himself, hesitating. 'Wait, I shouldn't be hesitating.' He sighs, ruffling his hair.
"You know; Skyla's pretty cute. Don't you think so?" Chris suddenly inquires, causing Isaac to stop in his tracks, staring at him in disbelief.
He stops and lifts an eye-brow up at him. "I- I guess. Um, why do you ask?" He stuttered out.
"Well. I think I want to get to know her even more." He bluntly says, looking at Issac with a huge smile onto his face.
"Ah- I see, so you're thinking about asking her out then?" He felt a heavyweight on his chest as soon as the words left his mouth.
"Hm, maybe." Chris says, starting to walk again to catch up with the girls.
Isaac caught up to him, his thoughts zooming through his mind. Suddenly Isaac felt someone wrap their hands around Isaac's waist, hugging him tightly
. He turned his head to look only to see his girlfriend smiling up at him. "Oh, hey Emily." he fakes a smile at her as she lets him go and grabs onto his hand.
"Issie-bear! Why didn't you pick me up for school this morning?" She pouts, trying to act all cute.
"I forgot. Sorry Emmy." he ruffled her hair as she giggled. He smiled a small smile looking at her then walked over to Lily, Skyla, and Chris with Emily still holding onto his hand. "Hey guys." Isaac smiled, looking at Skyla who seemed very uncomfortable. She shifted uncomfortably looking at Isaac and Emily. Chris leaned in and whispered something in Skyla's ear which made her turn to Lily.
She whispers in Lily's ear before running off with Chris tailing behind her. "Ahem, sorry. Chris wanted to talk to her in private. Hm, how's you... and your girlfriend?" Lily asks clearly not caring. Lily doesn't like her but it doesn't bother Isaac.
"Oh, we're fabulous! Aren't we Issie-Bear?" Emily budded in, looking up at him with a smile onto her face.
"Oh um, yep. Just peachy." He replied dazed off looking over at the place that Skyla previously ran off with Chris.
"Well guys." Lily speaks up. "I need to go find Skyla so I can show her to her class."
Isaac opens his mouth to say something however she already ran off. He sighed and looked at Emily before slightly smiling.
"Hey Emmy. Let's go, I'll drop you off at your class." He smiled while looking at her watching her eyes light up.
"Okay!" She chirps happily. They walk hand in hand down the hallway, eventually making it to her classroom. "Thank you for walking me, Issie-bear!" She smiles before reaching up, giving him a kiss on the cheek.
He smiled back, nodding his head. "Sure, thing Emmy." He watched her go into her classroom as he slowly waved at her.
Lily found Skyla all alone leaning against the wall in a daze. "Hey, are you okay?" She inquired worriedly at her friend.
Skyla slowly nodded, turning and looking at her. "Yeah." She smiled a little, looking down.
"Is that so?" Lily sighed and smiled as Skyla nodded again in response. "Skyla, I know you too well. Now what happened?" She responds leaning against the wall right next to her.
"Nothing really!" Skyla exclaimed, blushing lightly. "My nerves were a mess and Chris noticed then he wanted to help me calm me down so we came over here." She trails off, embarrassed.
Lily smiles and nods. "Alright, well we have class soon. Let's get going."
Skyla smiles back. "Okay..." She responds nervously.
Lily giggled and grabbed her arm. "It'll be okay!" She radiated a smile at her best friend.
Skyla smiles back at her bubbly friend and nods. "Yeah, let's go."
They walked with their arms entangled with each other, skipping down the hallway. Soon they arrive at their classroom that is filled with people chatting, loud laughing and paper being tossed across the room. They walk in and Lily instantly starts greeting her classmates chirpily. Skyla looks around the classroom anxiously as Lily dragged her over to some desks. They're sat Chris and Issac chatting away to each other.
Lily and Skyla sat in the seats next to the two boys. The four of them sat together, chatting with one another until their teacher showed up for class.
"Good morning class." An older lady said while walking into the classroom. "Welcome back to my classroom, I see a few new faces so why don't we all introduce ourselves? I'll start." She continued. "I'm Abby Stewart. You can call me Mrs. Stewart. I am your English teacher for this year, I love everything about teaching." She smiled while sitting down at her desk. "Now it's your turn, tell me about yourself, starting with-" Mrs. Stewart trailed off before pointing at Skyla. "You." she spoke up.
Skyla scurried to her feet after seeing the teacher point at her. "Um- Hello! M-My name is Skyla Brooks, I just recently moved here! I'm very excited to make new friends!" She stuttered, her cheeks flushing a bright pink in embarrassment.
Mrs. Stewart smiled at Skyla while humming happily at her response. "So glad to have you join us this year, Miss Skyla. Alright Lily you can go next, we'll continue on in this order."
Skyla plopped down in her seat while Lily stood up, clasping her hands together. "Thank you, Mrs. Stewart. Hello everyone! My name is Lily Hart and I'm so excited to have all my friends here with me!" she chirped out excitedly which made everyone clap for her.
Skyla shifted uncomfortably in her seat while watching her best friend.
Lily casually sat down like nothing just happened while Chris stood up, winking at Skyla. "Hey everyone, Chris here! So excited to get to know Skyla." He smiled happily while looking over at Skyla which made Skyla blush even brighter.
Chris' introduction caused chimes of 'Ooo' burst through the classroom.
Issac stood up next, clearing his throat in annoyance. "Hey guys. I'm Issac Lynn and I can't wait for football season."
Everyone in the classroom could feel the tension in the air from what Issac said which made everyone fall silent as Chris and Issac glared at one another.
Soon enough the rest of the class introduced themselves afterwards the teacher spoke up.
"Alright, since it's the first day- you guys can have free time for the rest of this period." The moment she said that, the classroom broke out into whispers.
Skyla laid her head down on the desk still embarrassed about what Chris said during his introduction.
