You know the phrases, “Barking up the wrong tree” and “Sorry to burst your bubble”, well let me tell you, sometimes those phrases can be the worst things to ever hear even if it wasn’t said. Especially after making a huge decision that could, and would affect everything and everyone around you.
“Datura, hey Datura, Datura! Wake up sleepy. Did you fall asleep here again? You know, you ought to stop working so late. I understand part of being a botanist is studying plants but, you take it to the next level.” Oh hi John, and stop worrying about me. I’m fine and I can’t help that I love doing my job. Besides, it will all be worth it when I discover a life changing event. “Still Datura, you’re always at the lab and you rarely ever go home to sleep. As your boss and as a good friend who really cares about you, I’m telling you, you need time away from work, so I’m going to give you some time off. I don’t want to see you in the lab for a week.” John! Don’t be hasty on things, come on, what's so wrong with me loving my job? And wanting to find ways in improving mankind with plates? “Datura, don’t take this the wrong way, I do think your work is great so far, and I love how you take your job seriously but, I do believe overworking yourself is unhealthy for you and in the long run, could affect your mental health and work. So, my decision is final. After today, I don’t want to see you at work for a week.”
Man this beats, but do you think John’s right Zea may. Do I spend too much of my time at the laboratory? Aw, my poor little kitty, Zea may, always being left here alone. How about this, I’ll make it up to you. I can go out and get you a special treat! Would you like that? Zea may replies with a meow. Alright then, I’ll be back in a few. Hm, since I’m walking to the store, why don’t I take a stroll through the woods since it is on the way. Maybe it will even help me come up with ideas of ways to advance our ways of living. Now that I’m walking through the woods, I didn’t realize how thick they are. I’m curious what could be hiding in here, just waiting to be discovered.
As Datura walked off and went further away from the path into the woods, she started to realize how big the woods actually were. After walking for what seemed to be miles and miles, Datura comes across a patch of land where it seemed life had never been before. With her curiosity growing within her and wanting to know more, Datura took a step forward. Not knowing what was about to happen, Datura went to take another step but before she could, the ground crumbled beneath her. What she found was unbelievable! What stood right before her was probably the biggest tree on Earth with a great aura around it. The tree glowed with much life and had a hidden society of its own. Datura, who couldn’t keep her excitement and composure any longer, documented as much as she could about the tree and crawled out of the deep crater.
John! John! I have great news! You were right, I did need to get out of the lab! I found something that will change humanity forever! “Datura, calm down and tell me what you mean. And I thought I told you that I didn’t want you back in the lab for a week, it's only been two days.” John, just listen, I know you don’t want me here right now but look at this! “ It just looks like a tree root that was cut off.” That’s just it John, it’s not like any tree I’ve seen before. I’ve been doing some testing, and this tree contains spiritual power within it! “How is that even possible? It doesn’t make sense.” With the spiritual charge I can use it to replace power lines and power boxes. Just think John, of all the things we can replace with just a small chunk of this tree in each city. That’s how powerful this tree is, and we can do so much good with it too! “Datura... I don’t even know what to say.” You don’t have to say anything, you don’t even have to worry. I already got people working on cutting down the tree and transporting the pieces back here so we can start the new age of our society. “Datura, listen, I don’t want to discourage you but, I don’t think we should be messing with something like this. It could be dangerous and besides we haven’t done enough testing to know what we are even dealing with.” John, don’t you think you’re overthinking this. Come on I thought you would be happy about this, I thought you would have had my back and supported me. But I guess I was too quick to assume that you’d be on my side, when it all came down to my discovery. “Datura wait!”
As Datura continued her work on cutting down the tree, John went down a different path. John truly believed Datura was making a big mistake, so he went on his own adventure to find the truth. John went to visit the site where Datura found the tree and from there he headed to the books. John spent hours and hours reading articles and books trying to find information about the tree, but it didn’t seem like he was getting anywhere. After a week of doing tests on samples of the tree and looking for answers about the tree, John was getting ready to give up. He was so tired and worn out that his body gave out on him from exhaustion. John eventually woke up to the soft humming sound of his computer’s fan turning on. He looked at the time and it was about four in the morning. But to John’s surprise, when he looked at his computer, he saw that he had clicked on a sample text before falling asleep, by accident and found results he had been waiting for.
“Finally! This is what I’ve been looking for!
As John looked through the test results, he had learned something tragic. The Tree Datura fell upon, was truly unlike the rest. The tree she found was the first seed ever created by God. With this tree, more plants rose from the ground. The test had provided all the answers John needed in order to stop Datura. John showed everyone what he had found but no one cared, because to them it was all just silly meth he had created. So John went to go find Datura.
“Datura! Datura! Please stop! You don’t understand what you're doing!” What is it that I don’t understand John, I’m trying to make the world a better place and all you seem to care about is how, “we don’t understand anything about it” but tell me John how are we supposed to learn about the tree and what it can do, if you keep trying to stop us. From now on, stay out of the way.
By Datura leaving John behind, it gave him the opportunity to run to the site but even then, John was too late. Datura and her team had already taken every last piece of the tree. All that was left was the leaves and roots of other plants. John fell to his knees and hands, as he thought all hope was lost, plants started dying all over. It was like watching them decay on a time lapse. John, shocked by the effect of Datura’s doing, grabs the dirt in anger. But in doing so he feels something. It was the seed! In the last hope of saving humankind and everything that holds life, John grabs the seed and twine to make a heart locket, hoping it’s not too late and with oxygen running out, he prays for Datura to hear his call.
“Please Datura come back and put on the heart locket. Get on your hands and knees and pray for forgiveness, then cut the twin and cover it with the soil. In my heart and soul I feel this is how you can make it right.”
Datura hears his cries and sees the outside world fading. She starts feeling the air around her get thicker making it harder and harder to breathe. As Datura tries to make it back to the site of the seed, she falls. But feeling the need to make it, she begins to crawl. Datura crawls up to the hole and slowly falls in the crater next to John, who’s been holding his last breath for her.
“Datura, put on the heart locket. Get on your hands and knees and pray for forgiveness, then cut the twin and cover it with the soil.” But John.. “do….” John, wake up John! Fine I’ll do it, but just wake up!
And as Datura cries, she takes the heart locket from John’s lifeless hand and does as he told her. When Datura coved the locket in soil, it was like time had slowed down. Minutes had gone by, but it felt like hours and slowly the seed started to sprout. In the end the seed made John a part of it and kept his body from decaying. All went back to normal and from time to time, Datura comes and cries over the tree of life.
