There was a cool breeze outside. She stood outside reflecting on the last few months. This year had been a difficult one. The winter had been cold, but once the trees turned green, she had been sure that things would begin to look up. There were so many things she had wanted to do, she wanted to see the lake, the stars glistening over the water. Romance was going to be in the air as she spent time with the man that she loved so much.
Winter left, spring came, and then summer. Each day passing, holding onto her dreams for dear life. But dreams they would remain. Because sometimes life gets in the way. The one person that she wanted so much to spend time with seemed a lifetime away.
The brutal heat reminded her of that sometimes things don't turn out the way that we plan. Sometimes she would look at him, and he looked at her. Both feeling deep within their hearts what they were so afraid to say out loud. They knew that they loved each other, possibly more then they dared admit to.
Some mornings she would go to the lake by herself, sitting and reflecting, watching the sunshine above. In the quiet wind she asked herself if it was worth it. Maybe she should let go and pick up the pieces. Perhaps love was just a fantasy, not a realistic goal for a dreamer. Perhaps it was... just a dream. But as she thought, she remembered that first day. The first time they had spoken. She had known from the very first moment. After all this time, even though she felt frustrated at times, she knew he was still the one.
It had been months since they had talked, yet there was so much that they wanted to say. Yet when they began to open up, the fears stepped in, and those precious words were left unsaid. Distance between them for a time had felt like they were worlds apart. It was lonely, and worst of all, it was unnecessary.
The truth was she loved him, and he loved her. This was more than just two people who randomly came across each other one day. This was destiny. The day her phone rang, and she saw his name flash across the screen, her heart skipped a beat. They knew that it would be awkward for a moment, it had been so long. But quickly, it began to feel like it always had. It was real.
They had been faced with a challenge that put their relationship to the ultimate test. It had been rocky and difficult, but ultimately, they came through together. They had a better understanding that this was meant to last. Now summer was beginning to come to a close. And as autumn grew nearer, there was a new hope for what the future had in store.
The new seasons equal new opportunities. Yes, they missed having their moment of summer at the lake this year, but there was something extra romantic with the idea of a cozy fire and a comfy warm blanket. Scented candles lit around them, as they held onto each other, knowing that destiny had brought them together, and that destiny would keep them together, not just for a season, but a lifetime. Love wasn't just for dreamers; it was there waiting for those who believed in it.
This year had been a difficult one, and everyone was ready for it to come to a close. Next summer wasn't too far away, and with that, anything is possible.
