The Elf Queen
A most unusual disappearance of a queen. Fantasy II

The river ran backwards on the day the Queen vanished. Our hero, Bilbi, hopped and skipped in the forest on this fine day. He was happy to be out enjoying the peace and quiet all by himself.
Bilbi had just left his humble home deep between the towering oaks and majestic pines. Unlike his kin, his life was marked by hardship and resentment, for he served under the cruel Elfin master, Eldyn. Eldyn, with his piercing gaze and unyielding demeanor, treated Bilbi with little more respect than a stray dog.
But on this fateful evening, as the sky paints itself in hues of lavender and gold, Bilbi's life would forever change. He had stumbled upon a hidden grove while foraging, and here, glinting under the faint light, lay a crown of unimaginable beauty and power...It was the crown of the Elf Queen, long known to be shrouded in magic and myth. Stories passed down by word-of-mouth, told that whomever wore it would wield the strength and wisdom of the queen herself. Had someone hidden it there, and why?

The Hobbit felt a morbid covetousness and loathing induced by the touch of the hated crown. He had no love for his cruel Elf master, or for any of his kin. But how did the crown come to be here?
He had heard the story, a prophesy, if he is remembering correctly, of a river and a missing queen. Yet there was only one queen...Elf-queen Maadriel, Lady of Thórien, the most powerful female leader in Middle-earth during the Third Age. She is supposed to be all-seeing, all-knowing and able to read people's thoughts.
Could this be her crown, Bilbi mused, for only beings of great power and might could have removed the queen's crown from her person.
Shoving it quickly into his shoulder satchel, a grotesque grin forming on his face, the hobbit thought of the possibilities now opening up before him. For without her crown, the queen was powerless, chaos and anarchy would consume the Elfin world. And what about the river? He hurriedly raced towards the direction of the sound of the water.

He hid himself in the thick bushes, there were Elves by the river. The young Hobbit's mouth hung open, for the river was indeed running backwards.
Bilbi, driven by years of mistreatment and a burning desire for vengeance, grabbed the crown and placed it upon his head. A surge of energy coursed through him, and his diminutive form seemed to grow with newfound confidence. He felt the power of the ancient Elves, a force that could finally free him from Eldyn's tyranny.
But unknown to Bilbi, the crown's enchantment was not without consequences. If he were not strong enough, the intense power locked within could consume him. If his heart was impure, he would become evil and terrible indeed.
When Bilbi donned the crown, the river Wyne, which had always flowed serenely through the forest, began to churn and writhe. True to prophecy, the river now flowed backward, signaling the end of the Elves' reign. The forest itself seemed to hold its breath, waiting for what would come next.
Armed with the queen's power, Bilbi marched back to Eldyn's estate, where he confronted his tormentor. Eldyn, stunned by the Hobbit's transformation, could only watch in awe and terror as Bilbi wielded the magic of the crown to bind him in vines and roots, rendering the once-mighty Elf powerless. Bilbi imprisoned Eldyn in his own dungeon. Let him feel what I have felt all these years. The Hobbit nodded in satisfaction as the Elf screamed his displeasure.

With Eldyn subdued, Bilbi turned his attention to the mystery of the missing Elf Queen. The forest, now under his command, told him all of their secrets. He learned that the queen had vanished, drawn into the Realm of Shadows by a powerful curse. Determined to restore balance and ensure that the reign of the Elves ended justly, Bilbi set out on a quest to find her and undo the curse. If the balance of power were not properly aligned with the stars, peace would never be attained.
But how would he get to the Realm of Shadows, and what should he expect when he got there. Bilbi had not a clue, yet journey he must.

As he traveled deeper into the unknown, the Hobbit discovered that power alone was not enough; he needed the wisdom and compassion that had always been the queen's greatest strength. Through trials and tribulations, he must grow not just in might, but in understanding. What if he were to become a leader who could usher in a new era for the forest and its inhabitants.
As Bilbi embarked on his perilous quest to free the Elf Queen from the realm of Shadows, he faced a gauntlet of formidable monsters that tested his courage and wits at every turn. With the queen's crown upon his head and newfound power coursing through his veins, Bilbi ventured deeper into the murky depths, driven by determination and the guiding light of a kind and beautiful enigmatic Elf spirit named Elysia.

He had met Elysia upon finding the entrance to the Shadow Realm. She had warned him of the dangers to be found there. At first he had distrusted her, as he did all Elfin folks. But she had offered him a place to rest, food to eat and a promise to help him along the way. He listened as she gave him advice about the Realm and promised to accompany him on his quest. Bilbi had no choice but to accept, he knew that he could not do this on his own. He must trust the Elf spirit.
The first monster he encountered was the Wrythe of the Slither Wastes, a colossal serpent that slithered through the desolate landscape. Its scales shimmered with an eerie luminescence, and its eyes glowed with malevolent intelligence. Bilbi, with Elysia's ethereal guidance, learned to channel his magic to create a protective shield. Armed with this newfound skill and his quick reflexes, he managed to evade the Wrythe's venomous strikes and delivered a decisive blow to its vulnerable underbelly, turning the beast to ash.
Further into the realm, they crossed paths with the Glaumm Hounds, shadowy creatures with razor-sharp fangs and a hunger for fear. These spectral beasts thrived on the darkness that enveloped the realm. Elysia, ever-present by Bilbi's side, taught him to harness the light within the crown to dispel the shadows. Using this light, the brave warrior illuminated the path ahead, driving back the Glaumm Hounds and banishing them to the void from whence they came.
Next came the Lake of Dark Despair, a treacherous body of water inhabited by the Tempting Sirens. These malevolent water spirits lured travelers with their hauntingly beautiful songs, dragging them to a watery grave. Elysia's soothing voice cut through the Sirens' enchantment, allowing Bilbi to navigate the lake unscathed. With her encouragement, the warrior confronted his deepest fears and insecurities, emerging stronger and more determined to save the queen.
Midway into the Realm of Shadows, Bilbi faced his greatest challenge: the Soul Reaper, a fearsome entity that fed on despair and darkness. The Reaper wielded a scythe forged from the essence of nightmares and exuded an aura of dread. Elysia revealed that the only way to defeat the Reaper was through a bond of trust and unity. Bilbi and Elysia merged their spirits, combining their strengths and creating a force of pure light and love. Together, they confronted the Reaper, shattering its scythe and dispelling its dark influence.
But the Hobbit was injured by the Scythe, his soul had been poisoned and he needed magical herbs to heal his wounds quickly, or face the possibility of death. They had to travel to the Cave of the Healer as his strength waned slowly. For three days he suffered from a terrible fever, but on the fourth day his fever broke and he was able to eat a rather large meal. By the fifth day he was ready to continue his mission.
With each monster he conquered, Bilbi discovered a deeper reservoir of bravery within himself. Elysia's presence not only guided him but also restored his faith in the Elves, showing him that not all were like Eldyn. By the time he reached the queen, Bilbi was no longer the timid Hobbit who had once served under a cruel master. He had become a hero who proved that even the smallest among us could possess the greatest courage.
With the monsters within the Realm of shadows vanquished, the queen's greatest enemies had been conquered. Imagine Maadriel's surprise and shock that it was a Hobbit to whom she owed her freedom.
Bilbi's journey through the realm of Shadows brought about change and control over darkness with the power of unity. The once-missing Elf Queen was freed, and the forest rejoiced as the river Wyne flowed forward once more. A new era had dawned, and the beginning of a new chapter under the watchful eyes of a Hobbit who had discovered the true meaning of bravery and kinship.
But now the question of who should retain the crown became an issue. The Hobbits wanted their turn to rule the land and The Elves needed to retain control of the magic of the crown.

Bilbi knew that only he could decide what course to take. If he simply returned the crown to the Elves, the hobbit would rebel. If he kept the crown the Elves would declare war on the Hobbits.
Could he, a small Hobbit, previously driven by revenge, find the true meaning of power and justice, reshaping the fate of the ancient forest and its people. The river Wyne now flowed forward once more, and peace had only just returned to the land.
What was he to do, could he forsake a queen's crown?
