The Elders and The Keepers
It's a back story of "The Fear From Beyond", another story that I published.

Long ago, in a land now lost to time, there existed an ancient civilization that was unlike any other. They were a people of great wisdom and knowledge, having mastered the secrets of science and technology far beyond the understanding of modern man. They built towering cities of gleaming metal and constructed machines of incredible power. They had unlocked the secrets of the universe, and had harnessed the power of the stars to fuel their machines. They had colonized other planets, and had built a vast intergalactic empire. But despite their incredible advancements, the ancient civilization was plagued by a constant fear. They were haunted by nightmares of a powerful and malevolent force that threatened to destroy everything they had built. This force was known only as the "Elders", and it was said to be a powerful and malevolent race that existed beyond the boundaries of their world.
The Elders were said to be ancient beings of immense power and intelligence, who had existed since the dawn of time. They were said to be able to manipulate reality itself, and they were feared by the ancient civilization for their ability to bend the laws of nature to their will. The Elders were said to be able to control the very fabric of space and time, and to be able to summon and control monstrous creatures from beyond our world. They were said to be able to see into the minds of men, and to know all their secrets.
The ancient civilization had always known that the Elders were out there, lurking beyond the boundaries of their world. But it wasn't until a terrible event, known as the "Awakening" that the true nature of the Elders was revealed.
It was a dark and stormy night when the Elders first made themselves known to the ancient civilization. They appeared in the sky as a massive, writhing mass of tentacles and eyes, and they descended upon the cities of the ancient civilization, destroying everything in their path.
The ancient civilization fought back with all the power at their disposal, but it was to no avail. The Elders were too powerful, and they soon laid waste to the entire civilization. Only a handful of survivors managed to escape, and they were forever scarred by the horrors they had witnessed.
After the destruction of their civilization, the survivors swore to keep the memory of the Elders alive, in case they ever returned. They passed down the stories of the Elders through the generations, warning of the dangers of the unknown and the importance of being always prepared.
But the ancient civilization was not the only one to have encountered the Elders. There were other civilizations, scattered across the galaxy, that had also encountered the Elders and had suffered the same fate. The survivors of these civilizations had also passed down the stories of the Elders, and had warned of their return.
And so, the ancient civilization had formed a secret society, known as the "Keepers of the Elders", to protect the galaxy from the Elders. They had built hidden underground bases, where they could study the ancient texts, and where they could build the weapons and defenses needed to protect the galaxy from the Elders.
The Keepers had discovered that the Elders were not from our world, but from another dimension, beyond our understanding. They were beings that existed outside of the laws of physics, and were able to manipulate the fabric of reality itself. They were able to travel through the dimensions, and could appear and disappear at will.
The Keepers had also discovered that the Elders were not a single entity, but a race of beings that were all connected by a single consciousness. They were all controlled by a single mind, known as the "Elder Mind".
The "Elder Mind" is a concept that is closely tied to the Elders in the story. It is believed to be the collective consciousness of the Elders, a sort of hive mind that connects all the Elders together. This mind is said to be incredibly powerful and ancient, with knowledge and abilities far beyond those of any other known civilization.
According to the Keepers, the Elder Mind is responsible for the Elders' incredible intelligence and abilities, as well as their terrifying power. It is also believed to be the source of the Elders' insatiable hunger for knowledge and power. It's said that the Elder Mind is constantly seeking new information and new sources of energy, which is why the Elders continue to ravage entire galaxies, destroying entire civilizations in the process.
The Keepers believed that the Elder Mind was the key to the Elders' power and that if they could find a way to disrupt or destroy the Elder Mind, they would be able to defeat the Elders once and for all. However, they also knew that the Elder Mind was incredibly powerful and that it would not be easy to destroy it.
Some scholars within the Keepers also believed that the Elder Mind may have been created by a powerful being or force, that it may have been some sort of artificial intelligence or entity. This belief gave rise to many theories and speculations among the Keepers, but no solid evidence was ever found to support these claims.
In any case, the Elder Mind was considered a mysterious and terrifying force that the Keepers were determined to protect the galaxy against.
The Keepers of the Elders were a secret society, made up of the descendants of the survivors of the ancient civilization that had been destroyed by the Elders. They had dedicated their lives to studying the ancient texts and artifacts left behind by their ancestors, in order to learn everything they could about the Elders and how to protect against them.
The Keepers had a strict hierarchy, with a leader known as the "Guardian" at the top. The Guardian was responsible for making all the important decisions for the society and for leading the efforts to protect the galaxy from the Elders. Under the Guardian were the "Scholars", who were responsible for studying the ancient texts and artifacts, and for developing new technologies to protect against the Elders. The "Warriors" were responsible for training and leading the soldiers who would defend the hidden bases and outposts of the Keepers.
The Keepers also had a network of spies and informants, known as the "Eyes of the Elders", who were responsible for gathering information about the Elders and their movements. They would infiltrate other civilizations, and would report back to the Keepers with any information they had uncovered.
The Keepers had built a number of hidden underground bases and outposts, located on different planets, where they could study the ancient texts, and where they could build the weapons and defenses needed to protect the galaxy from the Elders. They had also created a powerful weapon known as the "Elder Bane", which was capable of destroying the Elders.
However, the Keepers also knew that the Elders were not invincible, and that they had a weakness. They had discovered that the Elders were vulnerable to a certain type of energy, known as the "Elder Light". The Keepers had developed a weapon that used this energy, which they called the "Elder Beacon", that could attract the Elders and lure them away from populated areas.
For centuries, the Keepers had dedicated their lives to protecting the galaxy from the Elders, and they had managed to keep the Elders at bay. But they knew that the Elders were always out there, waiting for an opportunity to strike. The Keepers were always vigilant, always ready for the Elders' return, and always prepared to defend the galaxy against the ancient and terrifying race.
