My breath quickened as hot beads of warm sweat trickled down my temple. My face, the warmth, I could feel it on the apples of my cheeks and all across my nape. Fingers trembling, 'Cairo' and I decided to work as a pair to hurriedly escape underground from the bank safe. Time was a thief, like us, running into an abyss of its unknown fate and what was to come.

We persevered through the stomach churning sewerage pipe and made out way to the grate, bird singing in the distance, a symbol of our victory! I pushed the gate we made it out onto solid ground, screaming and laughing with joy! The sky above, gloomy with grey as raindrops fell like confetti, showering us after we accomplished our mission.

The smell of the earth grew stronger and its sweet luscious scent filled the misty air. "Petrichor." - I chimed.

"Sorry, come again Kendall?" - Cairo replied.

"The smell of the earth after it rains!" I chirped, giddy as a child.

A flare sounded in the distance, attacking the sky with its ferocious scarlet glow as bullets began firing.

Thud.

My hand warm with blood, a bullet had pierced my chest..
