It’s only been a few days since I last wrote but so much has happened!!!
I’ve managed to sell 2 houses in Florida = 1 x $5 million / 1 x $3 million = giving us a nice commission. I’ve done the virtual tours again, and just on those alone they sold. Mary wants me to carry on (if I can) and I am thinking maybe I can. Whilst we’re still here, I’ll do what I can. Jack seems to think it’s a good idea, especially if I can do this from home. We’ll see. I’ve got another 6 houses on my list but I’m going to give 4 of them to Mary to hand out because I’m just not sure I’ll have the time in the next few months.
The Fashion House is going well. Most of the new designs are done now, we’re just fitting them to the models and the show is in 2 weeks. I’m hoping to go this time. Julie is very excited and, I think, if I go I’ll get her to come with me. The experience will be good for her. Sarah is on top of everything but I still want to ‘back her up’. The dresses are beautiful and we’ve got some pastel colours this time — it’s been white and black in the past — but a lot of brides are asking for pastels at the moment. The “Edwardian” styles are really unusual.
Jack’s father has been in touch. He wants us to move in next month and Jack is keen to. I’m willing to but may have to travel back and forth for a month or two, my diary really isn’t clear. The mansion is beautiful though, and the grounds are extensive. They have 3 farms and a farm shop, and Jack’s father is thinking of opening the house for tours. It’s all very exciting. I do think the tours are a good idea and it will bring more money in. Maybe I can open a little cafe inside the mansion for ‘tea and cake’. I’ll mention it when we all meet next (which Jack wants to do next week).
Mum is coming over this afternoon and I’m looking forward to a good gossip. She wants to know ‘everything’ about the mansion, etc, etc. I’m going to ask her to stay for dinner, Jack can take her home. It’ll give us more time. I wonder if she could stay with us when we move in, she’ll get a real kick out of it. She is enjoying teaching dance but — I hope she doesn’t put her back out again. It’s not as if she needs the money because dad left her money for her lifetime but I suppose she wants to keep busy. Maybe mum can help me at the mansion — housekeeping and all that.
I’ve been reading some books and the last diary of Jack’s mother. She was a busy Countess. None of this staying in bed until 11am! She was up and ‘working’ at 6am!!! Well, I am used to working and most days I am up around 6.30am. The charities she supported sound good so I’m going to look into them, maybe I can carry on where she left off. I spoke to the Housekeeper on the phone and she sounds like a very nice lady. Mrs.Rice has been with the family for nearly 30 years, so she knows what she is doing. I didn’t realise how many staff they had — indoors and outdoors — but it doesn’t seem too difficult to learn. I’ll have to get used to doing the menus though, we do eat different meals but I’m sure we‘ll work it out.
Our youngest wants to come and live with us at the mansion. I’d like to spend more time with Jake. His exams are in two months and then he’s not sure what he wants to do. Mum’s been an angel looking after him and she says “he’s been no trouble”. I ‘hope’ that’s true. Anyway, we’ll talk some more about it, Jack seems quite happy about it.
Right, I must get on. I want to get to the shops before mum comes over, she loves those meringue nest cakes. A treat will be good for her.
Have fun diary!!!
