It was morning, the sky was clear and the weather was warm. The birds were chirping happily outside their cages, a soft breeze rustling through the air.
In one corner of the yard stood a young woman, sitting on top of a small pile of blankets, staring out towards the garden where her pet guinea pig had been found. A small smile rested on her lips as she took in the beauty around her, the flowers bloomed with life, even more, vibrant in this light, and the sun shined down from above.
She sighed quietly, reaching up to run a hand through her hair, before glancing at the clock that sat next to her and sighing again. “Five more minutes,” she whispered softly, leaning back against the grass. She closed her eyes, enjoying the calmness of the moment until her eyes snapped open, she let out another sigh before getting off of the blanket and making her way into the house.
The sound of a door opening drew her attention away from her book, and she looked over to see a man come through the front door carrying two grocery bags. He put them down on the counter and turned around, coming face to face with his wife. They stared at each other for what seemed like forever, both just smiling at the other.
“I love you so much,” He whispered, pulling her close.
“I love you too,” she replied, resting her head against his chest. She felt him kiss her forehead.
They remained like that for a while, just holding each other tightly, neither wanting to be apart from the other, not knowing how long it would be until they were together again.
After several moments, they broke apart, looking into each other’s eyes once more. This time, it wasn’t just the look, there was love in their gaze, and they couldn’t help but feel happy.
“Can you go make breakfast? I need to get ready.” She gave him an excited grin, running to grab some clothes from her bedroom.
He nodded slowly, watching her leave, only after she disappeared around the corner did he speak.
“Hey, love?” He called, causing her to turn around, her hair flying behind her.
She smiled, “Yeah?”
“Do you remember when we first got married?” She nodded slowly. “I think we made the best choice we ever could,” he said, walking up behind her and wrapping his arms around her waist.
“I agree,” she leaned back into him.
“And I promise you, I will do everything within my power to give you the family you deserve.” He kissed her cheek, before letting go.
“You better! I want children! Lots of kids!” She laughed lightly, before turning towards him and wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Then you better start making me some eggs.” He smirked slightly, pressing his lips against hers. They pulled apart after a moment, and he walked over to the kitchen.
They didn’t have a child yet, but that wouldn’t stop them from adopting many more. Maybe in five years or ten. Or thirty. Whatever it takes, they wanted children. It was something they had decided upon when they started thinking about having them.
As he prepared breakfast, he thought about how lucky he was to be married to the love of his life. The woman who had changed his life brought joy and laughter into it. Who was by his side every step of the way, and loved him even more for it. His beautiful wife is absolutely perfect in every single way.
As he cooked, he heard someone enter the kitchen, and he turned his head to see his wife standing in the doorway. She was wearing a red tank top that showed off her toned stomach, black shorts and flip-flops. He noticed that her hair was messy, and her cheeks were dusted with blush. He gave her a gentle smile and went over to hug her gently.
“What’s cooking?” She asked, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“Just some eggs. Do you want some?” He moved to pull away from her, but she tightened her grip around his neck.
“Sure,” she replied, pulling back slightly, allowing him to place a quick kiss on her lips, “thank you.”
“No problem,” he smiled, turning his head slightly, “it smells amazing!”
“Thanks, I hope you like it,” she smiled and headed over to the fridge to grab her milk.
He finished making breakfast as he listened to her humming to herself, and when she came to sit down, they ate breakfast together, enjoying the moment. He knew that it wasn’t going to last long, that there would always be things to worry about. That they probably would never really relax, because they are always on the lookout for danger. But he hoped that they could enjoy themselves for as long as possible and make sure to live in the moment every step of the way.
