“How can you believe such a hoax!” Screamed Lena
“ It’s freaking cake for Christ’s sake, and you mean to tell me, anyone who eats it gets possessed by some spirit who lives inside it?”
“Basically. They say you go into a psychological delusion about an hour after being in the abandoned family circus, and the cake appears to you out of thin air. You, being in delusion feel deprived of food, so you take a bite out of the delicious, or rather, malicious chocolate cake. And after that, you’re stuck, dead to the physical realm; lost on the other side.” Explained Christian.
“You know alternate dimensions are real, right? “
“Yeah. They’re “reel” alright!” Lena said exaggerantly. “And where can I find this family circus?”
“On Rose Road, it’s in the forest behind that dingy smelling taco joint, but don’t go alone, you may need help coming back to reality if you decide to take a bite of the mysterious chocolate loaf.”
“Oh yeah? Well I’m gonna go there, ALONE Just to prove to you there’s no magical chocolate cake, preying on my sweet tooth.”
“Okay sis, & u know I’d go, but mom and dad don’t let me out after 7:30 on school nights, but if you live to tell, please do tomorrow!”
“I will personally awaken you with bragging rights.” Lena said with humor,
Many hours later, around midnight, Lena headed for the old circus, where the mysterious chocolate cake beast lives.
She parked her car at Taco Taco, and proceeded going inside to ask for better directions, or information about the hoax..
“Welcome to Taco Taco, where our tacos are 100% Real.”
“Hello there, Im actually in need of some directions to this mystical chocolate cake circus. Apparently it’s behind your restaurant, could u be of assistance?”
“ Are you sure?” Asked the cashier.
“Yeah, please.” Demanded Lena
“I’ve heard some pretty strange things about that place, I’ve been here 15 years and have yet to take a look for myself. Something about Dark chocolate and an old creepy circus in the forest don’t mix well inside me.”
“Please don’t tell me you actually believe that tale?”
“well rumor has it-
“Honestly sir, I’ve heard enough about the rumors and hoaxes, do you have the directions or not?”
“Follow the moonlight, but be wary, the witching hour is upon us! He may come, when you least expect him to strike, and he’s clever with sight.” The cashier said with an evil villain smirk.
Lena backed away slowly giving the cashier that look. “I’ll be back when I’m back.”
“And we’ll be closed. If you dare return, muhahahaha!”
Lena then left the doors of Taco Taco, immediately gazing to the skies for the moon. It was cloudy, but the brilliant radiance of the full moon still shined her light, opening up the path to the circus..
“Great, and it’s full moon.” Lena said to her self as she’d began her way to, thru the dark forest.”
As she began approaching an old abandoned building, she assumed it was her destination.
The building was not what she’d expected, it’s a lot smaller than in the photos, and looks wore out and there were no circus tents, condemning her to confusion..
She began to approach what looked like an entry when suddenly her phone began to ring.
*RING RING*
She reached into her pocket to see who was calling..
Seeing “Loml” on the caller I’d she answered immediately.
“Hey babe!” Said Lena
“Hey, Lena, where are you I thought we were going to cuddle and watch movies at my place tonight, I have popcorn, and rice crispy treats!
“Oh! Babe, I’m so sorry, me and my twerp brother got into a debate about whether or not this mysterious-circus-chocolate Ghost hoax is real, so I’m outside of it right now wai-
“ Wait what? You went alone? I’m on my way!.” Mike, Lenas 21 year old boyfriend said with worry.
“ For what? it’s it not even real!”
“Babe, How can you be so sure? I’ve heard the stories, a 12 year old boy who got murdered there, they say his family owned the circus there, it’s a long story, but it sure sounds possible to me! Please don’t go in alone!”
“Are you joking, Mike? I would expect this from my 13 year brother but not from you!”
Lena said with disappointment.
“Babe! Have u not read the stories!”
The door opened, but Lena didn’t notice.
“ I’ve heard enough to know when it’s a hoax, okay, I’ve got to go.”
*Beep* she ended the call.
“The door opened?”
Lena gasped.
“Come on Lena, just go in, prove to your bother, immature boyfriend, and that creep cashier that all of this is just a story for laughs, and in a few hours I’ll be sleeping like a princess in my bed.”
As she began to approach the now open door, she had received a text from mike.
“Babe, I’m on my way, don’t go in without me!” The text appeared.
She ignored, and proceeded to enter into the dark abyss of the haunted old family circus..
“Dust, creepy doors, and holes in floors, just what I asked for.” Lena said with fake amuse as she began to explore the old vacant circus.
She had began to send Mike a text informing Him that there was no need to show, and she’ll be out in 10 minutes. She tried to send the message but when she entered into the circus her cell phone lost its signal.
“Dammit, no signal, perfect!”
Putting her phone back into her pocket, she started towards the first room. It was dark, filled with old worn out props for the circus acts. She wasn’t here for those things, she wanted the to prove to her close ones that this tale was just that.
“Ahh, I could really use one of those fresh Taco Taco, Tacos right about now.” Lena said to herself as her stomach began to growl achingly..
“Hel-o-“
*SNAP
“Ah!!”
Lena screamed as she fell into the foundation of the circus. An old fragile floorboard she was standing on had snapped as soon as she put her weight on it.
“O this night is a nightmare.”
Continuing to explore the abandoned building, she noticed a light coming from a stairwell leading into to the basement.
She approached the stairwell with caution.
“A light?”
“But.. how?”
She went down cautiously and noticed a flash light was left turned on, on the floor.
“Okay that’s kinda creepy” she said
“Hello? Is anybody here?”
After no one replied she grabbed the flash light and began to look around the room. She noticed a welcome home drawing on the wall, next to a “POINT OF NO RETURN” statement, also drawn on the wall in what looked to be black paint.
“And that must be where the cake is. “
She said as she shined the light on a closed door red door.
“Well let’s not go in there.”
Her phone began to vibrate.. “A call from an unknown number? Hm..” .. she decided answer.
“Hello?”
No one returned the greetings.
All she could hear was breathing. Soft consistent breathing..
She hung up, and began to head upstairs but the door was closed.
She tried to open it but it wouldn’t nudge.. she began to look for tools, when she noticed something beginning to shine..
“THE CAKE!”
“It’s real?” She questioned
There’s no way. She thought
“There’s no way out” a soft quiet whisper coming from every direction..
“Hello!” She said as fear began to encompass her spirit.
“Mike..! Is that you?”
A boy then appeared to her..
“There’s no way out.” The boy said
“Once the door closes, you have to wait until someone comes and gets you.”
“Who are you? did you eat the cake?” Lena asked with curiosity, and fear.
But the boy ignored her.
“ Well how long have you been down here?”
He ignored her again.
“He-llo!”
He then proceeded to enter into the red door, which she had turned away from.
She tried to follow but the boy quickly vanished into the darkness of the room.
“mike, I know you have something to do with this. MIKE!?”
No one answered.. she checked her phone, only to notice that it had died..
“Just great.”
Next was the flash light.
“ Awe Dammit!”
10 minutes later she’d began to realize she was stuck, hungry, and sleep deprived.. but she wasn’t going to sleep here, and she was not looking forward to eating cake before dinner..
She continued to move around looking for something to break open the door.. but there was nothing. She grew fearful.
But she was destined to leave this circus ASAP!
She went into the room where the boy had went. She seen masks, clown suits, and a random case of water.
Feeling relieved at the sight of water, she grabbed a bottle and drank it up.
“Whew, that was delicious, now, to focus on the mission.”
She then spotted a small hammer on what appeared to be an old metal bed Frame without the mattress. Immediately she grabbed it and headed for the door..
She beat at it a couple times before it opened.
“MIKE!” She said with excitement. “I thought I was stuck for a second”
“Nope, and here I am.”
“Now, where’s the cake?”
“Here it i-
Hm.. it was just here.”
“Maybe the boy ate it?” Mike asked as he walked around looking for cake
“Maybe.” said Lena
“Wait, how do u know about the boy?”
“Here it is he said”
“Ladies first” Mike said looking at Lena with the forbidden cake in his hands.
“Dude, do u know how long that cake has probably been down here! I’m not eating it!”
As he opened the freshly baked cake box he began to eat.”
“Mike, what’re you doing?”
“AWE ITS SO DELICIOUS!” He said
Influencing Lena to question whether or not she wanted to partake in the indulgence.
“ It’s fresh?”
“ As fresh as that water bottle in your hand”
As peer pressure began to set, she decided to take a slice for her self..
“Don’t do it” a voice whispered.
She ignored.
Mike, eyed her as she took her first bite of the magical chocolate cake, that was ever fresh in the abandoned circus.. after she took a bite, she heard a voice coming from outside..
“LENA!”
“Lena its mike where are you?”
She turned around, only to notice a glowing box of cake on the floor.
“Mike?”
She quickly ran for the door she had beaten with the old hammer
It was healed. And there she remained stuck awaiting for the next person to dwell into the circus for the Mysterious Chocolate Cake. The End.
