The Cheesy Moon Adventure of Colin
bedtime story, story for kids

Colin sat on Pappa's knee and stared up at the gorgeous night sky outside the window. "Pappa, Pappa! Moon!" Colin pointed his chubby finger toward the enormous, dazzling moon that was low in the sky and exclaimed. Pappa smiled and gave Colin a solid squeeze. "Yes, tonight's moon is full, small one. We may be able to get there.
"Wowww!" Colin's eyes glittered with eagerness as he yelled. Pappa chuckled and remarked in a whisper, "Colin, you never know. You never know when magic will strike. "Make a wish, Colin!" shouted Pappa as a shooting star flew across the sky. Colin wrinkled his forehead, closed his eyes, and earnestly hoped. He felt himself being gently hoisted off the ground as he opened his eyes, and before he knew it, he and Pappa were floating into the night sky.
The earth below became smaller and the stars brighter as they flew higher and higher. Colin got the sense that he was floating on a large, shimmering cloud. "Wheeee!" he exclaimed, grabbing Pappa's hand. Abruptly, they impacted the soft, fluffy surface of the moon with a gentle thud. Colin hopped up and down, peering around the odd surroundings. "Wowww!" he breathed heavily.
At that time, a boisterous figure appeared from behind a moon rock, with wide, dazzling blue eyes and brilliant orange hair. He smiled and said, "Hello there, young adventurers!" to Colin and Pappa. Monty Moonmousse is my name! "Hello, this is my home on the moon." Colin glanced at Monty with wonder, appreciating his wide smile and vibrant orange hair.
"Cheese! As Monty brought them to a gorgeous, brilliant cheesecake palace, he observed, "We have lots of cheese here on the moon." "We even have cheesy machines that make the most delicious, stretchy cheeses you've ever tasted!" As Colin observed the machines whirling and buzzing, generating a variety of rainbow cheeses, his eyes expanded.
discovered Monty's cheesy companions while touring the cheesecake palace, including Stringy Sally Cheddar, melting Mozzarella Mike, and even Gary, a large, merry wheel of Gouda. "We have never met a human before," Monty smiled. "Can you teach us a human game?" Colin's face grew glowing. "Pappa, teach them 'Pat-a-Cake'!" Pappa began repeating the well-known rhyme after chuckling.

Colin, Pappa, Monty, and the cheesy gang cooked the largest, cheesiest moon-cakes, laughed until their sides ached, then sang and danced together on the moon. Colin began to feel drowsy as the night wore on, his eyelids lowering like the smooth horizon of the moon. "Time to go home," Pappa whispered quietly as he gave Colin a tight hug.
"But how?" With a troubled expression, Monty queried. "You see, our moon rockets only go up, not down." Colin stared up at Pappa, who thought for a bit until a great idea suddenly came to him. "Don't worry, Monty – we have a special fuel that will take us back home." Colin's sight grew. "What's the fuel?" "Smiles and hugs," Pappa added, beaming. "The more we smile and hug, the stronger the fuel will be!"

Colin and Pappa were getting ready to depart when Monty and the cheesy gang offered them the largest, squeeziest hugs and the biggest, cheesiest grins. Colin's heart warmed and his smile grew as he felt the special fuel collecting inside him. "Ready, set, blast off!" Pappa screamed, and after giving the moon's cheesy partners a goodbye wave, they soared off into the night sky with a final, passionate hug.
