The Cabin

On August 4th 1995 at The Cabin on Adelaide Road, Patrick Parker and his wife Joana Parker met for the first time. The lively corner bar was loud yet quiet enough to have a conversation. The light were bright yet dim enough to conceal any blemishes.

August 4th 1998, which was Patrick and Joana’s three year anniversary, back at The Cabin, became the infamous date when Patrick gave Joana his heart-shaped locket. This small gesture of giving had seemed to be coming from a loving place, but instead came from a selfish one.

The heart-shaped locket was not any ordinary locket. It held information that, in the wrong hands, could jeopardize life on Earth. There was a secret encoded message written in the cap of the locket but Joana was not able to decipher it. Only Patrick knew what the encoded message meant, but before he was able to speak the words of the locket, he was shot dead. A silent bullet, traveling through the glass windows of the bar. Nobody knew where the bullet came from or the reason for his death. Joana was in shock and immediately called the police and when the ambulance arrived at the scene, they performed emergency CPR, but while this was happening, they noticed something very strange on Patrick’s face. Patrick’s face was different and seemed that it was never Patrick who got shot, but a complete stranger. Joana was confused and could not believe it because she saw him get shot with her own two eyes. It looked like Patrick had faked his own death, but that was far from the truth.

The heart-shaped locket was actually a device called a DNA shifter. Patrick spent his whole life working on ways to alter DNA of the human beings to change the appearance of someone without having to perform surgery.

In his early days, Patrick had performed several DNA shifts on himself before meeting Joana to ensure she would like him back.

Patrick, otherwise Patricia, born female at 4 foot 11 inches, overweight, had bad acne and was legally blind, was the product of DNA shifting. There were no laws or regulations about DNA shifting because the authorities didn’t know it existed.

Leading up to the creation of Patrick, Patricia had extracted DNA from one of her neighbors. James Johnson was his name. He was handsome, tall, had perfect skin and was extremely athletic. Patricia took a hair sample from his driveway and copied Johnson’s DNA so that she could become him, or at least a version of him.

Patricia murdered Johnson, and took his place before legally changing his name to Patrick Parker.

Joana’s heart-shaped locket held the DNA of a beautiful Russian princess. Patrick had a fantasy to become and create anyone that they wished. Patrick said that Joana had the correct personality but the wrong appearance. Patrick wanted to marry a princess or the next closest thing. But before he could shift the DNA of Joana, it was too late.

The heart-shaped locket still holds the active ingredient to transform Joana into a princess, but no one else knows how to use it, or so Patrick thought.

It turns out that Patrick’s DNA shifting device was discovered by the FBI, who needed to retrieve the locket from Joana to reveal its secrets.

The FBI have been working on DNA shifting for years, but have never been successful. The FBI wanted to use DNA shifting as a means to create disguises for their agents.

The FBI had stolen Patrick’s research and replicated his work, but during the process accidentally leaked it online.

Once the research was leaked, Patrick’s secret was publicly accessible. DNA shifting was becoming more popular and easier to replicate.

The FBI had caused havoc amongst the world with people in China, Russia and USA extracting DNA of highly successful individuals and plotting a way for their death, in order to live their lives. With the secrets of Joana’s heart-shaped locket revealed, everyone in the world was at risk and no one could be trusted.
