By Theresa Campbell Published 4 years ago 3 min read

The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. Noone really ever took notice to this cabin, till the night the candle started to bur. It was a quiet setting in Killarney National Park. Not one person who lived in a nearby town could explain why the candle was burning.

So, a group of collage kids decide to go camping and investigate the mystery of the cabin. They got to the campsite an hour before dark, set up their tents, gathered firewood and settled in for the night. The leader of the group Cormac decides to start out at first light to go look at the cabin.

Cormac chooses three people to go with him. He chooses Oisin, Cathal, and Declan to go with. they pack a few things in a backpack and head out at first light. As they walk through the woods, they talk among themselves and discuss the cabin and what they might find.

It is now halfway through the day, so they make camp for lunch. As they are looking for wood for the fire, they hear ghostly sounds coming from farther in the woods. The ghostly sounds are saying " Turn Back! Venture no farther". Oisin gets a little scared and ask Cormac what that was. Cormac says, " It is coming from the direction of where the cabin is located".

The four boys finish up lunch and start heading out in the direction of the ghostly voice. The whole time they are walking, they hear ghostly moaning " Beware". It is now starting to get dark, and the boys bring out their flashlights to help them see. They stumble across an old, dilapidated bridge with a sign nearby that says, " Cross with Caution".

The four boys decide to cross the bridge, one at a time and very slowly. As each one would cross the ropes would start to unwind more and more. as the fourth boy Declan gets close to the other end, the rope snaps. Declan jumps to catch the edge, as he sees a ghostly figure near the edge of the cliff. When Declan reaches the top, he tells Cormac what he saw and describes the ghostly figure as a female.

Cormac gets more interested in the mystery of the cabin now that Declan said about the female ghostly figure. He talks to Oisin, Cathal and Declan about his thought and his theories on the cabin and about this ghostly figure.

The four boys continue forward to the cabin, talking among themselves when they hear rustling in the trees. They stop for a second to listen and again the ghostly voice who is defiantly sounds like a female voice now says," Turn around before it's too late."

As the four boys get closer to the cabin, the light from the candle starts to flicker, the ghostly voice gets louder. The atmosphere gets colder. Slowly the boys creep closer, closer to the eerie cabin, till they are at the door. the atmosphere around the cabin became an eerie coldness that made your skin crawl. Cormac reaches for the doorknob and goes to turn it when out of nowhere they hear a deafnifying scream from inside the cabin.

Cormac open the door, to get hit with a gust of ice-cold air. The four boys walked slowly into the cabin to examine it. Inside they find a skeleton of what looks like might have been a young female laying on the floor by the kitchen. beside this skeleton lies a note that reads " She made me do it. Please don't open the locked door. Just let it be"
