Tesla was waiting by Giacomo’s cage as Myrna opened the front door. He cleaned his whiskers nonchalantly as Myrna set groceries on the counter: a bouquet of peonies, flour, cantaloupe, a packet of prosciutto...
Myrna filled a vase and began snipping stems as Tesla batted a peanut into the birdcage. Giacomo climbed down and cracked the shell: “Dankeschön!”
The cockatoo only knew four phrases. Climbing beak over claw back to his perch, he crooned, “U.S. Presidents for 400!”
Smiling, Myrna arranged the peonies.
Tesla’s tail twitched excitedly as Myrna set the vase on the end table.
Giacomo’s pupils pinned: “Wanna go for a walk?”
Buster barrelled down the hallway, barking hysterically. The boxer puppy rounded the corner at breakneck speed and crashed into the table, tipping the vase over. Feigning terror, Tesla sprung onto the counter and knocked the flour onto the floor. The bag burst and white powder rained over the kitchen.

Myrna mopped, reset her vase, and vacuumed. Slicing the cantaloupe, she realised the prosciutto had disappeared! She consulted the pet-cam app on her phone, but a clump of flour obscured the lens.
Tesla yawned and pushed another peanut into the birdcage:
“Bad boy, Buster!" Giacomo screamed.

*Reference the glossary for unfamiliar terms at the end of the tale* Haath’Loma was erupting again. The moons had just risen, casting their soft green glow over the dense jungle when the air began to charge and crackle with anxious anticipation. The sky suddenlty shattered with blinding splinters of lightning. Thunder shook dust from the walls and dared the clouds to drop into the sea. And, after three days of nauseating quakes, the two craters of Haath’Loma began belching smoke. Sulfur hissed and plumes of noxious gas coughed into the night until both moons were obscured. The enan side of the cone cracked open into a long and jagged fissure; and from the fissure oozed a slow and swollen bulge of haath that groaned under pressure and tumbled desperately down the slopes. The haath gained momentum as it snaked its way down the loma and began racing across the land. Trees burst into flame and then were swallowed whole. Fish ponds were licked up in the heat; the village, having been neatly packed and humbly evacuated mere hours after the earthquakes began, were decimated. The People of this lush, volcanic land were accustomed to a degree of displacement…

Oh my, this was perfect. Can't believe you got so much into 200 words. Bravo. I love how the pet's personalities came through and poor old Buster. I prefer dogs but cats are more sneaky, like Tesla!
