He came to the city in the evening.
The streets were narrow and led always upward. At the top, there was the library.
The librarian waited for him at the door. He was very old and thin. Without a word, he turned and walked inside.
They passed many shelves. At last the librarian stopped before a small table. A book lay there.
“This is the one,” he said.
The man opened it. Every page was blank.
When he looked up, the librarian was no longer there.

Okay! This was very short but inspirationally powerful. Your writing is concise and tight. You managed to go from an introductory Opening to fleshing out a full fledged ending that communicates an emotional mystery in just three sentences at the end. This is absolutely excellent writing. Excellent work, Tom!
