The Big Pond
The Big Pond was a pond by the side of the school of Vix. The pond was wide in area and shallow in depth, causing many plants to grow within it. Surrounding the pond was a stone wall, made with white and orange bricks, and just like most ponds, it is round in shape. Underneath the pond, by the floor, one could see thousands of coins, all tossed in the hopes of good luck, and making their dreams come true.
A teenage boy came to The Big Pond and tossed a coin into it. He closed his eyes and made a wish. When he opened his eyes he saw someone waving at him from the other side of the pond, shortly after that, in a blink of his eyes, the person disappeared. The boy, a bit shocked, thought that he might just be seeing things. He decided to go home for the day.
As he was walking, the boy noticed that he was alone. Usually around these times there would be many lovey dovey couples walking around the pond, and the boy would be jealous of these sights, but today there were none. Although the boy welcomed the silence, he was also quite unsettled.
The boy tried to find the exit, he walked around the pond looking for a small path that would lead him away, but he couldn't find any. He started running looking for the path, and when he couldn't find it he decided to cut through the woods surrounding the pond. He saw a light. He ran as fast as he could with his backpack on, and when he got out, he found himself back at the pond.
At this point the boy was terrified, he screamed curses into the sky and was on the verge of tears. That was when he saw someone wishing at the other side of the pond. He shouted for their attention and waved his arm furiously, but with a blink of his eyes, that person disappeared.
The boy lost all hope. As he looked on he noticed that the vines in the ponds started moving. It came out slowly, with the movement of tentacles it slowly crept towards him. The boy dodged it, he ran towards the woods, but the woods were now so thick there were no gaps to run into.
Slowly, the woods were pushing in towards the pond, making the paths smaller and smaller. The vines started moving faster and faster. At this point the boy was running as fast as he could around the pond, leaving his bag behind. He didn't give up, he was screaming in terror as he tried to outrun the vines, but soon when the woods closed into the pond enough, the boy was caught.
The vines jerked his body violently, breaking his rib cage. It wrapped itself around the boy, slowly cracking every single bone, the boy screamed in the most horrifying manner, like an animal getting slaughtered. It pulled him into the pond. He tried to struggle, but his efforts were futile.
As the boy was losing breath, he thought about his family. His father was a poor man who tried his best to raise his two boys, although he wasn’t perfect, he still loved him greatly, grateful for all that he had done for him and his brother. He thought about his mother, a weak woman who would surely be heartbroken from his disappearance, oh how he wished he could eat her marvelous fried rice one last time. He thought about his younger brother, who would play with him? Who would he grow up to be? Will he have many friends? Will he remember me? The boy’s consciousness slowly fades away, and along with it were questions that were never answered.
