The Best Way to Prosper: Slow Down!

Finding Balance and Prosperity in Life's Gentle Rhythm

By Eliot DarkPublished about a year ago 4 min read

Everyone hopes to thrive and improve their lives. However, not everyone can achieve this, or knows how to go about it. In reality, we only have one life to experience.

If we rush through life anxiously, we can't live it to the fullest. In fact, things may only get worse. As John Lennon said: "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans."

The true high-quality way of living, the real way to prosper, is to slow down. When you can slow down, be still, and truly experience life, you'll find your inner self more peaceful and at ease.

Slowing Down Leads to Improvement

There's a saying: "There are no truly happy people in this world, only those who can let things go." Indeed, those who are truly fortunate or happy are always able to let things go and remain calm.

These people are never anxious or impatient because they understand that life is inherently chaotic and society is naturally restless. If they were to be anxious on top of that, how could they possibly enjoy life?

Most of life's worries, melancholy, stress, and pain arise from the influence of our emotions and mindset. In fact, the more anxious a person becomes, the worse their life gets, the more confused their mindset becomes, and the more fragile they feel.

As a result, they tend to make mountains out of molehills and often fall into self-doubt, feeling they can't have a better tomorrow or achieve the future they want.

Rabindranath Tagore said: "If you cry because the sun has gone out of your life, your tears will prevent you from seeing the stars."

Slow down, get to know yourself, understand yourself, and stabilize your emotions and mindset. This way, your life can gradually improve, and at the very least, you won't constantly doubt or be disappointed in life.

Writer San Mao said: "People and things in this world come and go at their own time. We only need to cultivate ourselves into the best version of ourselves, and then quietly wait."

A truly good state of life is relaxed. On one hand, we do our best with our own efforts; on the other hand, we also go with the flow of life. In other words, we don't force what we can't predict or change, but we do our best to fulfill what we can change.

People who live this way can truly master their lives and control their destinies.

Slowing Down Relaxes Your Mindset

In fact, when a person slows down, it's precisely when they are at their calmest and most clear-headed.

In this world, life is full of contradictions, friction, pressure, changes, and uncertainties. If you always naively believe that the heavens or others should act in a certain way, thinking that's the only reasonable or fair way, then life will inevitably leave you battered, and your journey will be filled with regrets and pain.

Truly mature and insightful people always know that nothing is absolute or definitive. After all, the world is vast, people are diverse, anything can happen, and all kinds of people exist.

If you live too stubbornly or get too entangled, life will become increasingly chaotic, and your journey will become more restless and uneasy.

Bi Shumin wrote in "As Loose as Ashes": "Be as loose as ashes. Only when relaxed can all your potential energy be released, working in harmony to help you achieve perfection."

Learn to slow down, don't rush, stay composed and calm, follow your heart, and do your best with a peaceful mind. Then, take things one step at a time, slowly, without hurry. Don't run too fast, or you'll struggle to reach the finish line.

Life is like this: the more you want to gain, the more you crave instant results, the more likely you are to take detours and longer routes.

As Shakespeare said: "When we mean to build, we first survey the plot, then draw the model; and when we see the figure of the house, then must we rate the cost of the erection."

Wise people never rush themselves. From start to finish, they believe that as long as they maintain a stable mindset and take things slowly, step by step, they will eventually reach their destination.

Life always presents various choices, but not every choice is suitable for you. What's most valuable is knowing what kind of life you want, and then knowing how to settle down, slow down, and gradually adapt and adjust.

Finally, bring out your own state and realm to live the life you desire.

Slowing Down Leads to Prosperity

Writer Jiang Xun said: "The most beautiful life is not one that constantly accelerates, but one that finds balance between acceleration and deceleration. When we find the balance between fast and slow, we've probably discovered the rhythm of our own life."

In this world, the beautiful experience of life is about finding a rhythm that suits you. Once your life rhythm stabilizes and becomes smooth, you'll find that each day becomes more composed and calm.

Of course, once you find your life rhythm, each day will become more peaceful and moderate. In the process of slowing down, you'll live more insightfully, freely, and easily.

Zhu Xi said in "Knowledge Needed by Children": "When walking, one must be upright and proper, not rushing or leaping."

In this life, we need to find a direction and path that suits us. This way, whatever we do, we have our own ideas, our own thoughts, our own understanding, and our own rhythm.

Thus, no matter what difficulties or challenges we face, we can calm down, slow down, and carefully find the key to the problem. We can unravel it bit by bit, and ultimately rely on our own abilities and wisdom to reach a better future.
