The Beginning – Chapter One

العربيه

By Shatha HantolPublished 6 months ago 1 min read

A long street, stretching endlessly.

Houses lined up on both sides, whispering secrets.

You can’t tell—are the people living in them happy, or broken?

Along that road, footsteps echo in rhythm with the soft drizzle,

a sound that mirrors the stillness of the night—

or so we believe.

The person behind those footsteps walks neither fast nor slow.

He walks calmly, as if the weight of the world means nothing to him.

It’s not his concern.

He simply doesn’t care.

Everything feels in sync.

The moon appears, almost like a silent witness to this beautiful rhythm.

Yet it doesn’t know—

it’s not the only one watching this quiet symphony.

He nears the park.

His steps lead him to a bench, aged by time and stories.

He’s neither the first nor the last to sit there.

A cold breeze brushes past him,

as if reminding him of all that has happened.

He sighs:

“I truly don’t know how it all happened so fast.

Everything collapsed before I could even process it.

And now, here I am… alone.

I’ve always been alone.

I swear, the people who were in my life were nothing but extras.

But that’s okay. I’m not like normal people.

I took precautions in case something like this ever happened.”

Then, with a calm voice and unwavering resolve,

the twenty-year-old continues—

not like someone mourning a tragedy,

but like someone completely detached:

“Good. No distractions, no noise.

But…”

A faint, careless laugh escapes his lips.

“What a small world.

Looks like I’m going to enjoy this.

They’re probably in chaos right now.

Soon, they’ll think they’ve won.

But I won’t let them enjoy their victory.

I’ll take it from them—just like they took it from me.

They stole the one thing I cherished…

my peace of mind… my simplest desires.

Let them celebrate for now.

But I will take back what’s mine—

from each of you.

One by one.”
