The Backrooms: Entity Infestation the Cave System (Level 8)
- Welcome back, Explorer. Would you like to go caving? If so, you'll feel right at home here. Be forewarned, however, that these passages can be a little stalac-tight, and if you're not careful, you stalac-might meet your demise here and if you thought these puns were dangerous, wait until you see some of the truly dreadful creatures that are hiding in and around the caverns you're about to take a life-threatening journey through. You're now in Level 8.
- We sincerely hope you packed extra batteries for your flashlight. This is due to the level's extremely intricate and perilous network of tunnels, caverns, and caves that extend into infinity. In addition to the unique dangers of the Backrooms, Level 8 also has all the risks that make exploring typical earth caves dangerous without the right gear, training, and expertise. With the ground and walls made especially slick by trickling rivulets of Almond Water, the area's hazardous, uneven terrain was largely kept in near-darkness.
- On Level 8, there is hardly any vegetation at all. Due to the apparent lack of natural light down here, the most you're likely to find are some dried-up vines and shrubs. Large pools of almond water can also be found pooling from the drips above, but unless you're Hank Schrader, you probably won't enjoy these pools because they are all full of minerals, many of which have accumulated to toxic levels. There are additional pools on the level that are brimming with a thick, tar-like liquid.
- We'd also like to formally suggest that you avoid swimming there, in case that wasn't reason enough to keep you away from them. According to explorers, entering these pools will cause a huge number of horrifying, grasping human hands to emerge, grab you, and drag you into the engulfing depths. Depart from those, if possible. Because each Backrooms level is infinite, it is sadly extremely unlikely that you will find one of the safe routes that the Major Explorers Group has made available for explorers to travel.
- It's a bummer, right, and if your previous life's extensive experience with video games taught you anything, it's that danger lurks in the dim, slimy depths of caves. Furthermore, you watched The Descent, so before you know it, legions of pale, flesh-eating bat people will be on your ass. However, that would be a welcome diversion from the difficulties you are more likely to encounter here. Even by Backrooms standards, Level 8 has more hostile creatures nearby than you can shake a stick at. They could all know exactly where to find you with just one echo that echoed through the caves' pitch-blackness.
- In this story, we'll give you a rundown of the various beasts you might encounter as you scramble around in a cave trying to avoid being killed, eaten, or worse. Since smilers, crawlers, skin stealers, hounds, clumps, death moths, death rats, and wretches are common in the backrooms, we'll skip the ones you've already encountered and learned how to deal with and instead show you some of the new threats you should be concerned about right away. A mass of decomposing plant-like material has blocked access to many public cavern systems in Level 8.
- Flesh from a cowboy. During the No-Clip Burrow, the wrangler perished. It appears to have starved to death. Skeletons and other inedible objects were discovered in this area in significant numbers. The identities of these skeletons are unknown. There were some items that were made by people as well as other necessities. There were also other enigmatic items discovered.
- A M.E.G. has dispatched reserve units of the Regiment "Quick Match" to aid the Wanderers entrapped due to the substantial wrangler corpse in the caverns of Level 8. Since Level is such a mysterious location, anything is truly possible in the backrooms. 8. The sheer variety of entities you could encounter in this situation causes you to take a deep breath. Taking it slowly, you advance—and hit the floor and fall—to the following level. As we continue to explore the backrooms in greater detail, be sure to stay tuned into this liminal abyss even further?
