The atmosphere of the boarding house is strange and goes back to the past

That night the atmosphere in the boarding house felt different, quiet and still, almost as if someone was lurking around. My boarding house friend, Avidh, also felt the same way. Maul, who often played at the boarding house, felt this too and decided to go home early.

I was hungry after Maul left, so I went out to buy fried rice near the boarding house. When I opened the door, I heard the sound of a rooster crowing, even though it was night. I think maybe someone keeps chickens around here.

The boarding house complex consists of several blocks, with different types and prices. My boarding house is at the back, and to get out, I have to go through the middle and front complex. For the past three weeks, the two boarding houses in the central complex have been empty, making the area dark because the terrace lights are not on.

When I returned with the fried rice, I tried not to look at the dark boarding house window, but it felt like someone was staring at me from behind the glass. I asked Avidh, "Is it because it's Friday night?" He casually answered, "I don't know, maybe the ghost of the complex behind asked us to write down the story."

A few days ago, I was planning to write about the horror experiences of people in this complex, but I wasn't sure yet. However, one hour after eating fried rice, I heard the sound of a woman crying softly. I asked Avidh if he heard the sound, but he didn't. That's when I decided to turn on the laptop and start writing about strange experiences in this boarding house.

Haunted Nights in the Boarding House

There are six boarding houses in the back complex, four at the front and two at the back, and the two boarding houses at the back are empty. I live with Avidh in the third boarding house. Meanwhile, the other boarding house residents are Bang Ijul, Bang Muri, and Bang Ijay.

I have never seen the ghosts of this boarding house in person, but I often hear knocking on the door, footsteps on the floor, and the smell of pandan. However, I wasn't too bothered by it.

Avidh, who had just lived here, had an immediate horror experience. After Friday prayers, I went to Depok for coverage, and Avidh stayed alone. While he was taking a shower in the outside bathroom, the door was knocked repeatedly. But, when he checked, there was no one.

Bang Muri also experienced the same thing. He was washing clothes early in the morning and felt some air dripping down his back, but when he checked, there was nothing wet. Then, he heard strange noises and couldn't sleep all night.

The following night, I heard loud banging on the door at around 00:30. I ignored it, but Bang Muri came to the boarding house and asked if I was the one making that sound. I said no, and finally he asked to sleep with me. However, I was the one who couldn't sleep all night, hearing strange noises all night long.

Test of Courage and Stories of Apparitions

On Monday evening, Avidh and I decided to test our courage. We opened the door wide and listened to the sounds around us. Like a TV show, we heard footsteps, banging and strange noises. Even so, we were having fun chatting about our respective horror experiences.

Bang Ijul, who has lived here for more than 10 years, shared his experience of seeing three small children playing in the back yard of the boarding house. One of them was dressed nicely like a Dutch foreigner, while the other two were dressed shabbily like natives. When he came out again, the children had disappeared.

He also said that he was once visited by a kuntilanak figure who kicked his legs while sleeping. The smell of pandan and jasmine precedes the appearance of the figure. Meanwhile, Bang Ijay, who works as an online motorcycle taxi driver, once saw a pocong in the back boarding house and even experienced a tug on his leg while sleeping. The pocong figure penetrated the wall after being shouted at.

Stories of Magical Attacks and Memories of the Past

Stories about kuntilanak and pocong are often used by shamans to harm people. There is an experience that I remember clearly, regarding the kuntilanak terror that befell our family about 14 years ago.

My grandfather was often attacked by supernatural creatures. When he became seriously ill in 2011, doctors couldn't find the cause. Finally, grandfather was taken to a kiai who said that grandfather had been attacked by supernatural powers from more than three people, one of whom was in the form of a kuntilanak.

My mother also had a strange dream, where the kuntilanak tried to enter the house and chased her and grandfather. They ran through the rice fields and tried to take shelter in a house without a door, but grandfather was pulled by the kuntilanak. Finally, grandfather died about a month after the dream.

Kiai explained that the kuntilanak was actually intended for my mother, but because the sender didn't know my mother's full name, my grandfather was affected. Grandpa could actually overcome magical attacks, but this time the attack was too strong because it was related to the corruption that Grandpa wanted to expose.

That is the story of supernatural attacks and past memories that link us to the invisible world. In this boarding house, the old and new waiters have different characters, and every night, there is always a new horror story.
