The Alien and The Mermaid
Mismatch Challenge

The Spaceship safely landed near a body of water, that seemed to stretch as far as they eyes could see. I carefully found my footing on the sand below me. I wondered who I was meeting here, as I watched a figure come up out of the ocean water. She shook her long beautiful hair that covered her completely naked body. I was frightened for a moment, and then pleasantly reassured, when she started smiling at me.
Was this the woman I was scheduled to meet or was she just someone who was swimming in the ocean? If that was the case, where was the woman that I was suppose to meet? If this was her, why did she come out of the ocean, and why was she naked?
I had so many questions, and my fear, asked them all. I was apprehensive from the time, I left my own planet, for I didn't know what to expect. I knew I wanted to do this, meet someone from another planet, but the atmosphere here on earth, was entirely different from where I came from. They did not have oceans as wide as the eyes could see, they had small bodies of water. They did have sand, much like I was standing on now. However, the waves, and the foam crashing on the sand, took my breath away, it was so beautiful.
My mind refocused on the woman standing before me, on the shore of the ocean. She had dark hair, so beautiful it took my breath away. The way she tossed her wet hair, said something about her, I don't know quite what, but it made a statement of sorts.
She was the most beautiful creature I ever saw, and I wondered how she differed from the humans, I was corresponding with. She looked the same in appearance, but I was skeptical because she was naked, and even I wore a space suit.
I studied her figure, and I wondered if she was just a human being, from earth, that came out of the ocean for a swim. However, there was something different about her, but I couldn't decide what it was.
As the water washed up upon her feet, I noticed something different, her feet seemed to spread out like a fan. It wasn't human like and it wasn't like anyone on my planet. It was different.
I wondered who she was, and why she made arrangements to meet me here, on the beach, and I was stuck between my thoughts, and her incredible beauty.
I wondered where she lived, and where she would be taking me, or was I suppose to host her in my space ship. It was so unclear to me what was suppose to happen and transpire. I wish I would have made things more clean in our correspondence. I certainly did not think she would appear out of the sea, or is that even whom I thought I would meeting.
She started to take steps in my direction, and I began to feel a nervousness, I never felt before, and I looked around me to see if my vehicle that had taken me here, was still there. It was, and I felt nervously reassured.
As she continued in my direction, I knew that she was the one I was corresponding with on my planet, and the one I was suppose to meet.
Closer, she came, my heart pounded, she was approaching.
Closer still............
I stared at her, and her beautiful figure seemed to be someone friendly, and I knew that I had an earthly friend tonight.

I really enjoyed the gentle curiosity in this story. The alien narrator feels innocent and sincere, which made the meeting feel more tender than strange. The ocean setting added a quiet magic to it.
Oh wow, a mermaid and an alien who were pen pals. That's so cool. Loved this!
