Jon stood over Brandon’s corpse with the ancient human skin-bound book in hand. In despair he read the eldritch words aloud as best he could. The ritualistic candles went out in a flash and a radiant violet light replaced the flames.

His brother unleashed a shriek of agonizing pain and looked at Jon with a look of complete dread.

Between screams, he said, “It’s waiting! The unnameable formless defiler of reason!”

“Hell?”

“Hell is paradise to this ceaseless void! The antithesis of creation! The ineffable abomination! We are all doomed!”

In unutterable horror, he closed his eyes and died again.
