"The Absurd Search: A Hilarious Tale of a Lost Phone"

a funny story came to my mind

By Emincan AvcıPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

It was a typical day at the office when my coworker, John, burst into the room with a look of pure panic on his face. He was frantically searching for something, but I couldn't quite make out what it was.

"John, what's going on?" I asked, hoping to calm him down.

"I can't find my phone!" he exclaimed. "I've looked everywhere, but it's nowhere to be found."

I could tell by the way he was hyperventilating that this was a serious situation for him. But as the minutes ticked by, and John continued to search, it became clear that this was not a typical lost-phone situation. This was something much more absurd.

You see, John had a habit of setting his phone down in strange places. In fact, he had a whole list of places where he had found his phone before: the fridge, the bathroom sink, and even once in the microwave.

So, as we began to help John search, we had to get creative. We checked the trash can (no phone), the coffee maker (no phone), and even the break room refrigerator (still no phone).

Just as we were about to give up, one of our coworkers suggested checking the ceiling tiles. It sounded ridiculous, but we were desperate.

And lo and behold, there it was. John's phone had somehow managed to make its way into the ceiling tiles. It was wedged in tightly, so we had to call maintenance to come help us retrieve it.

As we waited for maintenance to arrive, we couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of the situation. It was just so absurd that John's phone would end up in the ceiling tiles.

When maintenance finally arrived, they had to climb up on a ladder and carefully remove the tiles to retrieve the phone. It was a delicate process, but eventually, they were able to free it from its tile prison.

John was overjoyed to have his phone back, but we all knew that this was not the end of the story. In fact, it was just the beginning.

For the rest of the day, we couldn't stop joking about John's lost phone. We made up wild theories about how it got into the ceiling tiles, like maybe it had grown wings and flown up there itself.

And every time John set his phone down for the rest of the week, someone would inevitably ask, "You sure you don't want to check the ceiling tiles first?"

It became a running joke in the office, and even John eventually had to laugh about it. He started making jokes about his own forgetfulness, and we all bonded over the absurdity of the situation.

Looking back on that day, I can't help but smile. It was just a silly, insignificant moment in time, but it brought us all together in a way that only humor can.

And as for John's phone, well, it never went missing again. I think we all made sure of that.

As the days went on, we continued to tease John about his lost phone. We would purposely move it to random places in the office, just to see if he would notice.

One day, John decided that he had enough. He was tired of being the butt of our jokes, and he was determined to get revenge.

So, he came up with a plan. He would wait until someone left their phone unattended, and then he would sneak in and hide it somewhere ridiculous.

And that's exactly what he did. One day, my phone went missing, and I knew immediately who was behind it.

Sure enough, a few minutes later, John came into my office with a huge grin on his face. "You'll never guess where I put your phone," he said.

I was both excited and nervous to find out. He led me on a wild goose chase around the office, dropping hints along the way.

Finally, we arrived at the men's bathroom, and John pointed to the toilet. There, floating in the bowl, was my phone.

I was simultaneously horrified and impressed. John had outdone himself this time.

From that day on, we called a truce. We both knew that we had taken the prank war too far, and it was time to move on.

But every now and then, when we're feeling particularly mischievous, one of us will bring up the lost phone in the ceiling tiles, and we'll all laugh like it's the first time we've heard the story. It's become a cherished memory in our office, and a reminder that even the most mundane moments can turn into something special with the help of a little humor.
