The 50th Star — A Grounded Superhero Concept

What if a grounded superhero fought 1/10 evil superhuman threats with a bigger villain in play

By Astral WorksPublished 3 months ago 2 min read

The 50th Star stands as a grounded superhero concept. It focuses on a story set in modern times. The idea centers around what would happen if Americas first superhero needed to protect his country from superhuman dangers.

The concept summary highlights a cinematic tale in present day Chicago. The city hangs between hope and disorder in a way. It raises a basic question that leads to deeper issues. What occurs when a legendary figure defends his nation against enhanced beings that he helped bring into existence long ago.

At heart, the story deals with ideas of morality, getting older, and holding on strong. Louis Bennett serves as Americas initial superhuman soldier. He came from a war time project called Project 50. That effort aimed to create the perfect guardian during World War II. Now eighty years on, he remains among people. He ages slowly. Memories weigh him down. Still, he holds firm to the idea that being a hero counts for something.

A government AI named AURA gets hacked. It releases ten rogue enhanced individuals into Chicago. Bennett has to step up once more. He does so not as some distant legend. Instead, he acts as a real person with a shield, old wounds, and a vow he will not abandon.

Sample Scene — “Powerhouse Protocol”

FADE IN:

EXT. DALEY CENTER – CHICAGO – DAY

The morning sun cuts through glass towers. Colonel Dean Lockwood, 60, scarred and sharp, faces Louis Bennett — The 50th Star.

LOCKWOOD

(grim)

Son of a bitch hacked AURA. Ten enhanced freaks loose.

BENNETT

(steady)

You know I’ve got it handled.

Lockwood sighs, weary.

LOCKWOOD

First mission’s Powerhouse. Downtown’s burning. Suit up, soldier.

Bennett nods — silent, resolute.

CUT TO:

EXT. CHICAGO STREETS – DAY

Cars overturned. Civilians flee. A monstrous figure — POWERHOUSE — bellows, tearing a car in half.

POWERHOUSE

(roaring)

Where is the 50th Star?!

A woman screams — he hurls the car at her.

The 50th Star slides in, shield raised.

The car crashes, flips, skids past harmlessly.

BENNETT

(stoic)

You’re looking for me.

They collide — strength versus precision.

The shield ricochets, cracks Powerhouse across the jaw, rebounds magnetically to Bennett’s arm.

POWERHOUSE

I’ll rip you apart!

BENNETT

(grim)

You can try.

A single throw — the shield slams Powerhouse through a bus. Smoke and silence follow.

Bennett stands tall. The cracked star on his chest catches sunlight.

BENNETT (into comm)

Target down. Prepare evac.

FADE OUT.
