It was a quiet and eerie night when Sarah heard a loud banging on her door. She was hesitant to open it, wondering who could be outside on such a stormy night. But curiosity got the better of her, and she cautiously opened the door.
To her surprise, there was nobody there, just the sound of the rain beating against the pavement. She was about to close the door when she heard it again - a loud knock, followed by a sinister voice whispering her name.
Sarah's heart pounded as she stepped outside, looking around nervously. But there was nobody in sight. Suddenly, she heard rustling in the bushes, and before she could react, a shadowy figure emerged and grabbed her from behind.
She struggled to break free, but the figure was too strong. It dragged her into the darkness, and Sarah knew she was in grave danger.
The next morning, the police arrived at Sarah's home to investigate her disappearance. They searched the surrounding area, but there was no sign of her. It wasn't until a week later that a group of hikers discovered her lifeless body in a nearby forest.
Sarah's death was gruesome and horrific. She had been strangled and mutilated, her body left to rot in the woods. The police were baffled, and the case went cold.
Years passed, but for one person, Sarah's memory was never forgotten.
Mark had been Sarah's best friend since childhood. He was devastated by her death, and the lack of justice only fueled his anger. He became obsessed with finding her killer, spending every moment he could gathering information and evidence.
Finally, he found a lead. A witness had come forward, claiming to have seen a suspicious man in the area around the time of Sarah's disappearance. Mark tracked down the witness and convinced them to testify in court.
The trial was long and grueling, but in the end, the killer was found guilty. It was a man named James, who had been living in the same town as Sarah when she was murdered.
James showed no remorse for his actions, and even seemed proud of what he had done. He was sentenced to life in prison, but Mark knew that it would never be enough.
One night, Mark snuck into the prison where James was being held. He waited until the guards were distracted, then crept into James' cell.
The two men locked eyes, and Mark pulled out a knife. Without hesitation, he plunged it into James' chest, over and over again, until he was sure that the killer was dead.
As he walked out of the prison, covered in blood, Mark felt a sense of relief. He had avenged his friend's death, and he knew that Sarah could finally rest in peace.
But as he made his way back to his car, Mark heard a familiar voice whispering his name. He turned around, but there was no one there.
Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder, and he spun around to confront his attacker. But once again, there was nobody there.
Mark realized too late that he was not alone. Sarah's ghost had returned to haunt him, and there was nothing he could do to escape her wrath.
In the end, Mark suffered the same fate as Sarah. His body was discovered in the same forest where she had been murdered, and his killer was never found.
Some say that the spirits of Sarah and Mark still wander the woods, seeking revenge on anyone who crosses their path. But others believe that they have finally found peace, and that their souls are at rest.
