It was watering time at the sunflower farm.
I hosed the flowers. I checked the PH levels.
They were good.
We had the best soil I’ve ever seen, rich in nutrients.
Some of the flowers were grown in our hydroponics system, but most were growing in our nutrient rich earth.
After watering the flowers, I went to the ones growing seeds. I took out the seeds. I de-shelled them, roasted them, and salted them.
Then I packaged them and put the packages in little brown boxes. I looked at the order forms and printed out labels with the addresses of our customers on them. Then I slapped the stickers on the boxes, stamped them and shipped them off.
We eventually ran out of stickers, stamps and boxes.
Cindy had the company card. I sent her to get more.
We mostly employed drone people here. People who did as they were told and didn’t pay attention to what was going on outside of there directive.
This meant a lot of work got done at minimal cost.
Cindy was the best drone we had.
I told her to do something.
Cindy would say, “zzzuuurrr,” or something along those lines, drool a little, then do it.
She came back a half hour later with everything I asked for.
It was time to check on the bees. The bees would pollinate our sunflowers and use the pollination to make the best honey, which would then go back into the soil to enhance the sunflowers and their seeds. It was a cycle, and how we managed to win so many awards for best sunflower seeds.
I put on my bee suit. I went to the beehives. The bees were buzzing. The honey was sweet. I smoked the bees and harvested the honey. I put most of the honey in massive honey jars. We had a honey hose attached so we could later pour the honey into the sunflower soil.
The sunflowers were starting to wilt. This happened after about four harvests of the seeds. We needed to replenish the soil.
It was time to have another volunteer to help replenish the soil.
I called the local newspaper. I placed an ad. The newspaper placed it for free since it was a volunteer position. I convinced them it was a PSA. They believed me.
The next day a couple volunteers showed up.
One of them was already the perfect size. We’d have to fatten up the other one.
Until we fattened him up, I would use the one that was already overstuffed.
I told the skinny volunteer to go harvest the honey, one of the drone workers would show him how.
I told the fat one to wait for me in the sunflower field.
While he was there, I grabbed a shovel. I quietly snuck up behind him and whacked him over the head.
I dug a hole, covered him in honey, and kicked him in. He was perfect nutrients for sunflower soil.
Time to regrow.
