The St. Ignatius Troubles is a brand new fiction series written by critically acclaimed journalist M.D. McGrady. Follow the journey of an investigative journalist working to take down a corrupt county Sheriff in rural Colorado accused of drug running, police brutality, having connections to organized crime, and running his legal jurisdiction like a personal criminal empire.

From the high peaks of the Rocky Mountains to the streets of Belfast, this multi-part crime thriller takes place in some of the most scenic venues in the world. Cities like London, Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Kabul, Medellin, Sao Paulo, Berlin, Denver, Hong Kong, and Washington D.C. are all featured in this fiction series. You'll never be bored reading this story.

With cerebral storytelling and diverging character arcs, McGrady does his best to develop vivid and authentic characters dealing with real-world issues on the backdrop of an expansive and everchanging world. Each chapter is written with a consideration of actual real-world events to present fresh storytelling. For example, settings in the story have been adjusted already to reflect the events unfolding in Afghanistan, with the return of Taliban control over the national government. Based on some of his own experiences as well, the stories and characters behind this fictional "real-life-like" world are caricatures and statements on social and political problems sweeping across the United States and the world.

Jerome Montoya is the lead investigations editor for The New Yorker. Having won critical acclaim for his work exposing a white supremacist terrorist cell run by a rural law enforcement officer in Alabama, Montoya embarks on a brand new investigation to uncover the police brutality tactics of one Sheriff Patrick Minix in the rural community of Sharpsburg — a fictional town East of Colorado Springs, Colorado, on the Great Plains.

Working with his wife, the Pulitzer-winning Marion Webster, Montoya directs his newsroom to commit as many resources to the Minix case after obtaining reliable information that the good sheriff is in bed with organized crime elements from Latin America and the New York mob.

To add fire to the case, Webster obtains information independently from her law enforcement sources in Washington D.C. that Minix has avoided prosecution because he has dirt on senators, congressional aides, and agency executives — all of whom he served with in Afghanistan while he was a military police officer in the United States Army.

Unfortunately, after she initially follows up on the information she's received, Webster travels to Sharpsburg to find out the truth. However, she never returns, and Montoya sets out to expose Minix and find his wife. Lo and behold, Montoya is unaware of how dark and evil Minix truly is.

One aspect of this series will focus heavily on the development of character history. Each chief character will get a background profile in the coming parts. You'll learn about each of their origins, their family history, and why these fictional people behave the way they do. This is a part of what sets this project apart from other projects. While McGrady intends to release fresh and exciting content in as many parts as it takes, side stories and following storylines that diverse into the larger, broader story is what will build the world, environment, and the problems it faces.

We know. It's an ambitious undertaking. However, the world of the St. Ignatius Troubles already has well over ten chapters of the primary storyline completed, with dozens more expected in the next few years.

McGrady promises that you'll never be bored reading his stories and that you'll be on the edge of your seat every time.
