We are counting the days to anniversary that we wish as Americans did not have to remember every year.
I am talking about 9/11.
This is something that I wish that never happened but it did happen in American history.
At that time I was at work as a visiting nurse with a client. Her grandson work for a television network and was on his in office when he called us to tell the sad news to his family.
We were all in shock when he told as about this act on America.
The next thing I did was to call my husband to tell them and then I got the phone call from my son's pre-school that they were sending the children home early. We were told to act normal because they were 4 years and not let them watch television.
I called work and talk with the office and told them I was go to get my son. They would pay me for the day. I was told just go home and hug him and watch a lot of cartoons with him.
It was a very weird feeling went you went outside. It seems that the birds and everything in area knew what happened.
My husband called to tell me that he was coming home at lunchtime.
It was a day of cartoons and naps in our house that day.
The children didn't come out to play that day. Everyone was afraid to go out of their houses.
Everything in our neighborhood was closed up for the day. What a strange feel in the neighborhood.
Everyone was sent home was has sent home.
My husband was 13 years old when President Kennedy was killed and I was born yet.
I ask him was it like this when the president was killed. He said yes it was just like it.
What make more weird both my husband and I were firefighters that wanted to go to scene and help out.
We couldn't go because of young son but we made meals for the firefighters and everyone else who sent to that horrible scene.
That night on television the president spoke about it and vowed that we would get whoever did this is our country.
We helped in anyway that we could the next few weeks and life slowly got back to normal.
Sport was the first thing to come back after the terrible attack on us. I think that night everyone was in the world was watching that game.
This baseball game was the start of our healing process. It had a feeling of band-aid coming off for the first time after you put it one to start the healing process.
This year it will be 20 years since 9/11.
We have done a lot healing from that date of 9/11.
We need celebrated it as a day service. Just like we did for the few years after it happened.
So we plan to plant some trees in the memories of some of friends who since have passed away because of the attack on 9/11.
I wonder what other people will do on 9/11/2021. I hope they still take time to remember what happened on that date 20 years ago.
You never forget the people who lost their lives on that date.
This family always take the time to remember. Now it is written in history books.
The first time I saw it was in my son's 12th grade history book. It didn't take every long to be written about.
Remember that fallen on that date. I know this family will.
