Terry hadn’t an inkling how the antique cane had fallen through the gap in the storage wall that was connected to hers. The occupants of that unit had vacated days before. She saw the two gentlemen packing hurriedly and speeding away.

Holding the ornate cane, she curiously ran her fingers over the carved badger’s head. It was loose. Twisting, it came off. Putting her fingers inside, she carefully pulled out a canvas. Heart racing, Terry unrolled it and with a sharp intake of breath, recognized that she was holding the stolen painting of Van Gogh’s “Poppy Flowers”!
