I fixed my gaze on the endless waves of ocean around us. Only a thin floatation device of rubber pumped full of our desperate air kept my companions and me from our watery graves.
Silence hung over us like a heavy blanket, each haunted by the trauma we had just survived. Out of the one hundred and fifty-six passengers, only four of us survived the fiery fall from the sky. But to what avail? Life had abandoned us to the deadly watery trap surrounding us.
