Scarlet, Witch of Lavender
A witch that harnesses white magic creates an alliance with non-human creatures to save humanity

Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. For many eons, this phenomenon couldn’t be explained, but to only accept it as part of every day life. Scarlet found this rather peculiar, even though she has gotten used to seeing the sight for many years. Her emerald eyes watched the clouds form out of nowhere and danced with the stars, lighting the darkness of the night sky away just for a brief moment. Scarlet was the daughter of a witch, Helenna, who provided services to those of the townsfolk on a small hillside by the beach in a small town in the state of Maine. Scarlet was fifteen years old and would hide one secret from her mother - she would speak with the Lavender Tribe. That’s what she called them, anyways.
The tribe consisted of nonhuman creatures that would visit her on a nightly basis. Of course, it was awkward for Scarlet to speak with this tribe, who specifically hunted for witches, but Scarlet was able to pursue them to spare her mother; she was only six when they visited her home. Scarlet worked very hard to show the tribe the spells her mother used by demonstrating them herself. The spells by all means were not dark magic or used for evil. In fact, this power the child showed was indeed white magic. The creatures were in awe, not once taking their gaze away from the human. Scarlet attempted to use her magic to heal a forest fairy.

Scarlet recalled meeting with the group just like it was yesterday. On a night that was very ordinary, Scarlet would fall asleep for a short while before she would force herself to wake up and watch the purple clouds. The clouds would only last a minute before it disappears back into the darkness. Scarlet would always wonder why the purple clouds would form and if this meant something would be coming this way. Thus, the Lavender Tribe arrived. A sound of an item from Scarlet’s desk was knocked over, waking the girl up from her slumber after she watched the clouds. Three sets of eyes were watching her on the opposite side of the room, but to their surprise, Scarlet didn’t yelp or cry out. The little girl’s eyes widen with surprise, and her tiny lips formed into an open smile, can’t comprehend the excitement of meeting strangers.
The first creature was a mix of cat and fox, his dark crimson fur and his soft ears ticked from being caught off guard. His blue eyes pierced through the darkness, “Little one, it would be best for you to wait here. This is not a safe place for you.” He whispered with caution. The little girl tilt her head, confirming to the cat/fox creature she was confused. “We are witch hunters. We can sense an evil presence coming from this house and we believe there is a dark witch residing here. It is not safe; is there anyone else that you can stay with? We’d be happy to validate for you on your behalf if you like.”
Scarlet was tiny, but not incomprehensive. “But, it’s just me and my mommy. For as long as I can remember, it always have been me and my mommy. You are not going to hurt her, are you?” Before she was given an answer, something small with a blue twinkle flew through the open window flying to the group. “Mista!” The animal exclaimed in shock. The twinkle, Mista, started to freefall down to the wooden floor, but with quick thinking, Scarlet reached both of her hands out and let Mista fall on her hands. The twinkle went away, revealing herself to be a fairy. It was hard to make out the facial description, but her light blue and black wings were clear to see that indeed this was a forest creature - a forest fairy, to be exact. Scarlet saw the tiny fairy with an unleveled wing, unable to properly flutter it. This gave Scarlet an idea - “Please, if you let me, I can help your friend! There is this spell mommy uses to heal items and makes them new. I hope this will prove that mommy means well. I only read spells but I hope you can recognize the spell.”
Mista held very still while Scarlet chanted a healing spell while very softly rubbing the fairy wing with only the pad of her pinkie finger. A white glow shone on the wing while Mista and others from the tribe only watched without a sound coming from anyone. After only a brief moment, the white light dimmed away. Mista attempted to flap her fairy wing with success. She jumped away from Scarlet, playfully flying around her as the little girl giggled. Mista flew closer to Scarlet, so the little girl can get a better examination of the fairy. She had a high ponytail with blue hair. Her skin was very light, sky blue almost without blemishes on her skin. Mista’s red eyes sparkled, “You did it! You fixed my wing! Thank you so much!”
“You are so welcome! You see now? Mommy may be a witch, but she would never hurt anyone.” Scarlet suddenly became puzzled, looking down at her hands, “But, I’ve never done magic before.”
Athena, an elfin healer, very lightly caressed the little girl’s face. The human girl’s green eyes tremble with an embarrassed feeling as they gaze at golden eyes. Scarlet can tell by noting the wrinkles and the creases on Athena that she is not a young elf; she has been living for a very long time. Atena spoke in a calming tone, “Because you, little one, have a blood of a witch. I can see how long of a lineage white magic has been used in your family. It is clear to me you have such a pure heart. I’ve never seen a cleaner aura before than what I am seeing now. It is clear to me you are going to be very special to use in the future.” Athena promised Scarlet the tribe shall not harm Helenna, the witch.
Athena focused her attention on the animal, “Wouldn’t you agree, Felix?” The cat/fox creature nodded his head, and all three nonhumans smiled at one another.
In time, they will explain their presence and why they have arrived at the small house by the hillside close to the beach. Scarlet was only a little girl; she is too young to understand what is in store for her. For now, they will only guide and teach her the ways of their magic, as her pure and innocent dreams will lead the Lavender Tribe to victory to protect all humankind.
