Reflection

Smile with tears on ayes

By KiaraPublished about a year ago 2 min read

He stood at the edge of the bridge, staring down at the dark, rushing waters below. The cold wind whipped around him, carrying a chill that matched the emptiness he felt inside. His heart pounded in his chest, the weight of his decision heavy on his shoulders.

Someone appeared beside him, gripping his hand with a desperate urgency.

“Henry, don’t do this,” his voice was gentle, yet firm. “Think about the last sunset we watched at the beach. Remember how the sky turned into a canvas of colors?”

Henry’s eyes welled with tears. He recalled the vivid hues of orange and pink, the tranquility of the waves lapping at the shore. “It was beautiful,” he whispered, “but it feels like a lifetime ago. Those moments seem so far away now.”

His grip tightened. “They aren’t as far as you think. Remember the sound of the waves, the feeling of the sand beneath your feet? Those little things that made you happy?”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry shook his head, his voice quivering. “Yes, I remember. But those memories don’t change how I feel right now. The pain is too much.”

“Life is full of those little moments,” He said softly. “The smell of rain, the laughter of a friend, the warmth of a hug. They’re worth holding onto.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry’s eyes were fixed on the distant horizon, the weight of his sorrow evident. “It’s hard to see that right now. Everything feels so dark and heavy.”

His voice softened, almost pleading. “Darkness is just the absence of light. The sun will rise again, bringing new moments of joy. Give yourself a chance to see it.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry’s breath hitched, tears streaming down his face. “I’m so tired, though.”

“Rest,” He urged, “but don’t give up. You’re stronger than you think. Don’t let this be the end of your story.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry looked into the his eyes, searching for solace. “You’re right. But sometimes, the pain is too much to bear.”

His eyes glistened with its own tears. “Please, Henry. Fight a little longer. For the sunsets, the waves, and the laughter. For all the little things that make life beautiful.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry took a deep breath, the weight of his decision pressing down on him. “I’ll try, but if I can’t…”

“Just promise me you’ll try,” His voice broke, its own resolve wavering. “That’s all I ask."

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Henry took a hesitant step back from the edge, nodding slowly. “I promise. But if the darkness wins…”

He hugged him tightly, his voice filled with emotion. “We’ll face it together. You’re not alone.”

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As Henry stepped away from the precipice, His presence lingered, a bittersweet reminder of the beauty and pain intertwined in the journey of life.
