Rain

Wiliam’s POV

I walked into Vance, a really nice restaurant, my father asked Mae and I to join in with him for dinner to celebrate. I walk into the building and walk through to the waitress, I give her a smile and watch as her cheeks flush. “I’m here to join my father and my sister for dinner, could you lead me to them?” I heard her gulp “yes, follow me please.” She turned and started walking towards the tables. I look around as we walked, I saw Mae as I was walking into the elevator right next to her…Was Chloe. Chloe was wearing a short red dress, her hair was half up and half down, draping over her shoulders. She had on bright red lipstick. They were laughing with each other, she looked happy. I pressed my lips together and held my breath as they both locked their eyes on mine, Mae opened her mouth but it was Chloe that took a step towards me. I quickly turned around and averted my gave away from her, knowing my father is here I would rather never see Chloe then find out what my father would do if he knew she was here. Once we get onto the second floor the waitress leads me over to the table where my father is sitting, a few minutes later Mae joins us with Chloe. They both sit down, Chloe glaces my way for a second before averting her gave to my father, “thank you for the invitation to dinner tonight. I’ll admit that I’m rather surprised to be invited.” My father gave her a smile and clasped his hands together “thank you for coming tonight as I have some very important news and someone very important for you all to meet.” We ordered our drinks and talked for a couple minutes before an older couple walks over to the table and sits down, my father greets them and a moment later another woman joins us, she has blond hair that reaches down to her shoulders, she sits down and looks around before setting her eyes onto me. “This is who you want me to marry?”

I glanced at Chloe who was staring down, I looked at Mae who‘s face was pale, I looked at my father who was grinning from ear to ear then I looked at the blond woman who was sitting across the table. “What?” I asked, my voice showing that I was clearly angry. “William, I would like you to meet Mina, she will be a viable asset to our family.” My dad stated as he pats me on the shoulder “she’s like us, her whole family is like us.” He said as he stopped patting my shoulder, he then leans in the table towards Chloe, “now you see, you will never be welcomed into the family, nor will you ever be able to be with William.” I watched as Chloe slowly got up from the table, her hands were in fists and her head was still down. “I won’t waste your time anymore then.” She said as she turned and left the table.

I looked at my father and pressed my lips together, I slammed my hands on the table and stood up also looking down “I apologize Mina, but I cannot marry you.” I said, I then turned and walked away. I found Chloe outside sitting on a bench I went over and sat down next to her. “that was my fathers decision, not mine.” I stated as I looked over at her, she had tears streaming down her face when she looked at me “Do you not want to be with me?” She asked. I opened my mouth then closed it again while thinking. I looked away, and after a moment so did she. “I want to be with you, but it’s hard…You don’t understand what happened with my first love...” “you mean with Rachel?” She asked, cutting me off. I looked at her and let out a sigh “what else do you know?” I asked.
