Purposefully Placed

you can lean on me

By Nazzara BurpeePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

If walls could talk , I’d be just a plain old wall, made of bricks and mortar like any other in the building. Until something strange happens, like suddenly being able to talk.

At first, I’d was frightened. Walls aren't supposed to talk, after all. But as time went on, I came to enjoy my newfound ability. I could hear all sorts of interesting things from the people who passed by me, and I loved the feeling of being part of their lives, even if they never knew it.

Over time, I began to form a bond with one particular family who lived in the building. They were kind and gentle, and they always seemed to have interesting things to say. I listened to them talk about their lives, their dreams, and their fears, and I felt like I was part of their family.

But then, one day, something terrible happened. The family was moving out of the building. They had found a bigger and better home, and they were packing up all of their belongings to leave.

As the movers came in and out, carrying boxes and furniture, I felt a sense of sadness wash over me. I knew that once they were gone, my days of hearing their voices and being part of their lives would be over.

But then, something amazing happened. The father of the family, a kind and wise man, came over and placed his hand on me. "Don't worry," he said. "You may be just a wall, but you've been a special one to us. We'll never forget you."

And with that, the family was gone. But I knew that I would always remember them, and that they would always remember me. As I stood there in silence, I thought about all of the things I had heard and all of the memories I had shared with them. And I knew that, even though I was just a wall, I had played a small but important part in their lives.
