The film follows the story of Ashitaka, a young prince who becomes cursed after an encounter with a rampaging boar god. His journey leads him to the forest, where he becomes embroiled in the conflict between the animal spirits, led by the princess mononoke, and the human settlement of Irontown, which is destroying the forest.
